Original Pie Pan Constellation? 1963 Dogleg Authenticity

I came across this constellation pie pan on r/watchexchange. The seller was asking $999. I did the MOY test and it looks good. The movement dates back to 1963 .Im trying to understand what might be wrong before I want to purchase it. Thanks in advance!

It’s a pretty trashed watch, every piece of it is in awful condition and not worth having at any price

True, Case is over polished, patina is a little too harsh for some. But I think at $999, its a good deal?

The crown is from an older Connie model from the 1950s. For $1,000 you can find something more attractive.

Don’t buy it. You’ll be a lot happier to wait, save more money, and buy a better example.

It’s a bad deal all around, every part of this watch is in bad condition, it’s just a lucky pile of bits nobody wants, like the leftover head and spine of a prawn.

It's not a good deal, although it's interesting to see that someone would actually pay that much for it. When you get tired of it and want something better, you will see how hard it is to sell.

I think the dial is attractive and wouldn't mind the case. But it looks like it desperately needs a service.

That said, I wouldn't pay 1/2 of the asking price.

Initially on the image preview I thought this was a 14393.. but then I saw the lugs! 😗 not a good sign!

That's very sad to hear, someone bought ~$300 worth of parts for way too much.

Might be a controversial opinion, but these regularly sell on EBay for around $1000 in bad shape, so I don’t think this is an outrageous price if you like the “patina”. That said, it has no collector value (as everyone points out) and you can get one in better condition if you are willing to spend more time searching/waiting.

The dial I don't mind much, but the case is a real mess and ruins the watch. The lugs are literally unrecognizable.

You’re not wrong, it’s the same people buying those $200 fake Seamaster antimagnetics and $2800 bogus marriage watches. They’re still worthless watches, but there are people buying them as they think they’re getting a good deal on an Omega

I’m going to be a bit of a contrarian on this one.

I don’t care for patinated dials and the case is pretty much toast and has lost any collector’s value as a dogleg Constellation IMHO.

However, if correct, (I.e if the dial started life with this case) the watch itself is a bit of a rare bird.
Arrowhead dials are quite uncommon in any dogleg but this must be the last of the arrowhead dials, which appeared in only a very few post-reference-number-change Constellations. (and IIRC only doglegs)

Would I pay a thousand dollars for it?
Most definitely not - but some collectors might acquire it just to fill an uncommon slot in their collection.
