The seller has indicated all the parts are original and the dial is original. The case doesn't that polished (I think), and the parts look good. I can't really tell if the dial has been repainted. What do you guys think about the dial and the overall watch?

The watch is a redial and the case is overpolished. I would stay away from black dials until you know what you’re looking for.

Personally I like the watch. I will appreciate more details from the other members of the group with more experience to learn how to spot a redial. What to look for? I also think that for a decent price in's not a very bad buy.

    It is not a 166010 - it is a overpolished 14701.

Agree that mid case is certainly not a 166.010

For that watch honestly I'd pass even at $500.

An original black dial would have gilt printing not paint as this one does.

Your problem is that now you know, you can never un-know, and whenever you look at it, whenever someone pays you a compliment, that tiny grain of knowledge will spoil it for you ….

… or not, depending on your nature

There's a bunch of tips in the how to fish thread: https://omegaforums.net/threads/learn-how-to-fish.52603/

I usually pull up a good example against the example in question for side-by-side analysis.

I did not know that. Any other tips on how to identify if a watch has an original black dial? I usually check the minute markers, and the font.
