To anyone that owns/has owned/or tried both... what are your thoughts on fit/wearability?

How big is your wrist is the main question, if its maybe 7.5 inch or under 36 is probably better, 8.5 or more 41 is better and in between either works

I’ve owned the DateJust 41. It was a great watch and much preferred over the 36mm.

6.5 if I am feeling virile -- 6.25 if my wife is nearby.

Why so? Strictly wrist size or other factors?

Mostly wrist size. I prefer watches in the 39-41 cases.

Did it wear "large" or "as expected" for a 41mm? Asking because I find their modern watches to wear big, in some instances beautifully large in others too large, owing to what they can do with lugs.

Go try one one. I have 7.5” wrists and found the 41 big for the form factor. Divers in 41mm are perfect, but that’s a much slimmer bezel and larger dial on a 41 DJ than say a Sub. I have always found 36 to be perfection for that style.

I meet none of your criteria but I'll offer my opinion anyway. Feel free to completely disregard on that basis. I spent some time looking at these because the DJ was/is a future "grail" watch for me. I have a 7" wrist and don't care much for "big" watches and feel like the 36 size is a sweet spot. Since you don't have particularly large wrists I'd go 36. It's such a classic, elegant watch the 41 is just too beefy IMO. The dial sizes are only 2mm different the size is mostly case and bezel. Since OF has thankfully tamped down my "new" watch fever I've come around to the older 1601. There have been a few beautiful 1601s for sale here the past couple months that were killing me. 36. All day. All long. I found the below video helpful back when I was obsessed with DJs.

Also, I thought you were barely wearing your RAWWWLEXs? Looking at another!?

With 7.25” wrists, the 36 is perfect on me. The 41 is too big and clunky. Looses all of its elegance.

Great points, thank you -- I'll check the viddy out as soon as I type this... yes, fair enough, since strapping my Swiss Douchtool on yesterday two unexpected things occurred:

1. How absolutely fυcking amazing this thing fits and wears (even though my wife immediately began poking fun at me last evening: "Oooo, looky, it's Mr. Swanky!" and "First colognes and now his Rolex... is someone having an identity crisis lately?" fυcking relentless she is).

2. How much I wished it had a date complication ~ because outside of my lowly little Hamilton Khaki automatic field I don't own a single watch with a date complication.

I vote 36mm too. Imo it's the perfect size for the DJ, just like 40mm is the perfect size for a dive watch.

Like most people I've owned subs, DJs, Explorers etc and you might find interesting to know that the DJ 36 wears bigger than the Explorer 36. Also, the dial diameter of the DJ 36 is visually identical to that of the Submariner.

Yeah but where's the Penis Magnification cyclops and crown that says, "I am someone, I have arrived"?

Okay next then...

36mm ~ Check
Smooth Bezel (I can already hear the screams of anguish -- fluted is too much Bidnizz & County Club for my dirtbag, pottymouthed, bike riding in the desert, former jazz musician, lifestyle) ~ Check
Bracelet ~ leaning towards the tried and true Oyster but am open to input and arguments for the Jubby.
The big 'un...
Dial color?
I am traditionally a black dial fella but I really like their bright blue dial (but I have a blue dial OP and worry that beyond doubling down on too many blues it'll relegate it to being too something out of the ordinary for me and not be a daily) so any ideas on that?

Both colors kick my ass truthfully (the blue down below is on a 41 I believe ~ based on bezel girth whereas the black is a 36)...

They can come with a magnifier and fluted bezel. This thing definitely scratched the DJ itch a bit for me.

Interesting comparison of three different DJ sizes on the same wrist...

There's really no substitute for trying them on in-person, but given your wrist size, I'm pretty confident that the 36mm DJ will be perfect for you. It's a great size.
