ug 2.jpg ug ebay.jpg I have been considering adding a UG. I would like some opinions from members with far more knowledge on the topic. Is dial correct and an estimate on what a fair offer would be.

I'm relatively sure the dial is refinished. What case metal - solid gold or plated?

Case is plated. I had questions about the dial also. Thanks for the response.

I don't have any problems with the dial. That looks factory-unmolested to me.

I've seen several examples of this reference or very similar references over the last few months. Based on my memory, I believe that they had better (read: pristine) dials, and were 14k at least or 18k at best. Prices ranged from ~$450-900.

Unless you're getting a screaming bargain on this one, my advice would be to pass and wait patiently for a solid gold example to come along. From a value and collecting perspective a solid gold or steel case would be much preferred to the plated or rolled-gold types.

Agree. Note the very fine serifs on "Automatic", rarely reproduced on redials.

The V's were that much wider than the rest of the letters back then? ::confused2::

Yes, Dennis, this was before word processing.

But I agree that you should wait for a proper gold case for that very nice cal. 138SS bumper movement.
