Seen this on eBay and would welcome opinion on it, not price or anything but just whether it seems genuine or "franken". It was advertised previously with a Mk 2 dial, now has what looks like a correct one. Many thanks.
IMO you should wait for a better one. The case is overpolished, the caseback is a service replacement, the hands are (new) superluminova. The serial number in the caliber corresponds to a 145.022-69 which should have a DO90 bezel instead of the DN90 bezel. Do check with others though since I'm still new myself. Hope this somewhat helps..
Thank you, much appreciated. I shall keep looking and be sure to post my eventual acquisition on here when the time comes.
Check the watches for sale section and the private sales in this forum. You'll get a fair price and more likely than not, a superior example. If you see on there, post the link here for an honest (brutally) assessment.
Hi, sorry to "butt in" this thread, but I just wanted to ask why you said the case is overpolished? Looking at it, I see the case has pronounced edges, which I though was an indication of an unpolished case. What else should one look for to gauge a case? Thanks!
Might not be as bad as I thought maybe just the angle. But I also look at the back where the four edges should have a small "flat" surface which is almost gone here.
I can't make out the ref no on my phone but the case band looks to be either a new service case or it's been completely recut to give it sharp, brushed edges. The fact that it has a modern 1171/1 bracelet, a modern bezel, and what look like luminova hands, suggests it probably a service case and has been given a thorough going over in the last few years where most of the original parts have been replaced.
