Just looking at potentially buying this compax.

Movement appears to check out and case is correct but I'm not entirely sure about the dial.

What do you guys think? Unfortunately there is no straight on photo. universal-geneve-compax-chronograph.jpg 9.jpg

I am not entirely versed in this brand, but do notice there is no visible "SWISS" below the 6 O'Clock. I know that this could be hidden by a poorly chosen crystal. But that was the initial red flag to me.

    Thank you for any advice!

    Ollie :)

Its a redial. At least in my opinion from that photo. Numbering on subdials looks off.

Redial. The fonts are wrong. ::puke::

Not the worst I've seen by a long shot but yes redial. Adding to Larry S comments, heavy print on hr subdial.

What reference is it supposed to be?

Can you point us to the listing? I'd like to see a better picture of the dial straight-on if possible.

I would want to know serial and reference and do some detailed research before weighing in on the dial

Am I the only one to think that this is a really nice original dial?

Even without the Swiss below the 6? I had seen another dial identical to this on a UG but it has Swiss :)

Are we saying that we have discovered yet another species of subdial font?

I think that watch could go either way. It could be a redial (I don't like the spacing of the GENEVE -- especially that drifting G) but it also could be legit. The low res photos and lack of info makes it tough to make any conclusions for me.

Those sub fonts are very odd. I do not recall seeing anything so strange.

"9"s and "3"s seem to be all over the place, and font spacing uptop.....very perplexed.

Here’s a similar UG text from Sala that looks original to me (I’m only comparing the UG text, there are obviously other differences). Anyhow my gut says the dial is good but if I were considering to purchase myself or advise a friend, would want to dig a little deeper to be sure.

Case looks like a ref 22263, and would guess late 30s / early 40s ?
