Need some input... Here's the trade offer on the table... I'm really torn... Which probably says enough... These 2 Rolex Non ceramic but one of the few engraved 16618 Twotone Everose DJ 37mm For this.... Cash neutral... Would love some advice... Couldn't post on the Rolex forums...
That rolex sub is at around 15k call it the other one is at 8-10k call it that omega was 34k retail, but used can fetch high 20's maybe? Up to you, it might be a pretty equal trade but a tough decision for letting go 2 nice rolexs for 1 really nice omega
If you really want to make the trade, I would want some cash in that deal. IMO, the Omega has some more downside going forward while the Rolex values should hold well. From an personal preference point of view, I'd keep the Sub.
It's not *all* about the money, is it? If not, well, that seamaster is killer and looks very nice on the wrist. The cutout markers, the sedna gold. I think it smokes the other two. Take with a pinch of salt as I've never really clicked with Rolex though..
I like the Omega better than either of those Rolexes, but I agree with others that cash on top of the Omega is necessary for the trade to be remotely considerable.
THIS! Those Rolexs will hold more value down the line, but at the end of the day, if its not about the money- do what you need to do but you should get like 5k out of the deal or just do the sub for it straight up.
There's an SM300 in Sedna Rose Gold for 20k starting bid on eBay atm: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Omega-Seama...620?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item2a4f509564Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Would I rather the SM300 over the other two? Easily yes, its a far nicer watch to wear than the sub in particular and that model of 18K sub I honestly don't think is anywhere near as special, while a vintage 1680/8 or something would be a different story. As a modern dive watch its just a rung below the SM300 in a lot of aspects, and with Rolex releasing the new 32xx series movement this year for the Day-Date it'll be a matter of a couple of years before we see both those Rolex models being pushed down in price to some degree with their older 3135s and the already superseded bracelet clasp and bezel on the sub, I honestly think both those models are already at their peak value and will be worth less as time goes on. Having said that they're combined worth more than the 20k that that SM300 is listed on eBay for, maybe some cash your way to even it out or go sub + some cash and sell the Datejust separately if he doesn't have cash to send your way. That SM300 in gold is just stunning, you'll genuinely enjoy wearing it. Not trying to put either watch down if they mean a lot to you, its just that compared to most of your other watches they're not that special for the money that's tied up with them, your 116505 I absolutely love but its a totally different level of watch with its movement bracelet and finishing compared to the 16618.
Sorry. I'm in the Rolex camp on this one, too. Fast forward 5 years, the difference will be even greater leaning toward the Rolex brand.
Have to side with Rolex as my first choice, but I do luv all Omegas, and their fabulous time keeping. Would try for some cash back for the 2 rollies in the deal. Good luck. J
Being in the Rolex camp too. I am a sucker for Subs and the DJ is simply beautiful. It's a tough call, I just love both Rolexes, quite frankly, I am not a big fan of the SM300. I love Omega and love what they are doing with their in-house movement. But I just feel there is more long term value in the two Rolexes vs. the SM300 IMHO.
SM300 in gold is awesome. I don't know my values well enough but do what you can to get that watch. It's beautiful
I'll keep the Rolex. 2 great watches, specially the date-just which is simply perfect. The seamster is great, but it is 1 great watch for 2 get watches...and the Seamster will loose value far faster than the rollies
Just try this...forget the gold for a second...although on gold by weight you still loose on the trade, but forgetting that, a top of the line sub and a Datejust for an smp300...makes no sense. if you don't like the rolex anymore sell them and then buy the SMP and you'll still come on top versus this trade.
plus, didn't you very recently obtain a PO with very similar look to that SM300? agree with above: if you're done with the rolexes, then sell them, and you can get the SMP with cash to spare.
