Hi all, Just curious what you all think of this particular model/ case style. I have seen them referred to as Cobra, Stingray or UFO. I really like the unusual case shape, but I see it only under Geneve and cal. 1481 option. Where there any other configurations?

I've seen the recent Cobra's too but no idea there was a Tissot inside, so a strong no-no

There's nothing worse than buying an Omega, excitedly opening up, and seeing a Tissot inside, eorgh

In my experience they were part of Geneve collection and they all have 1481.

It was a movement developed jointly between Omega and Tissot. Both brands having different numbers for their calibers. Omega's was 1480/1481 (17 and 21 Jewels) and Tissot's movement was 2481 (21 jewels).

This movement was also used on the Dynamic which I have always liked for its unusual shaped case.

The reference number for the watch in the second picture is 166.0122 according to Omega's vintage database.

Very true, I have 3 Geneves with that movement. Although 1481 was a movement that was shared with Tissot. The markings were different of course.

I know what you mean! Anything I collect, and I collect quite a few things, I always look for pieces that stand out. Sometimes I don't even care if the item is highly collectable or not, if it catches my eye. It could be a cheap vintage watch with a gorgeous, unusual dial or case, and I'll take it. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

I really dont know why you loath Tissot so much?

Tissot were once joined at the hip with Omega, and their watches in the 60s-70s were just as interesting and funky as Omega’s, and some came with Gay Freres bracelets( which are a class above the rattly, hair pulling Omega alternatives). And of course, some of their earlier watches (pre war) were simply fantastic.

just saying………..

It said also that Tissot have saved Omega from a bad financial situation....

Movement 1481 is based on the Tissot 2481 which is the evolution of the Tissot 781.
So not really a joined development but a sharing of product to improve overall business.

I agree that Omega movements are better eyes catcher but Tissot are not bad movements.

I agree, I have 4 vintage Tissot in my collection including the one below which I think is a beautiful design
