Via the magic of targeted behavioral Facebook marketing I had an ad pop up on this watch line. Apparently these are made by the newly created parent company of Lew and Huey (who I didn't know existed until an hour ago either). I'd like to add a vintage style diver to my small collection (really like the Tudor Black Bay) but unfortunately current budget does not allow me to spend another 3k+. Do any of you have any thoughts if this might be a good "stop gap" purchase while I save for a larger spring buy? At least i would have some mystery to my WRUW today posts!! For $600 it looks like it might be worth a look but I trust the collective knowledge of this board vs my limited experience. If anyone has a better suggestion in that price range feel free to let me know. Thanks! Link added: http://www.janistrading.com/
I can't think without pictures. Nobody can think without a link either. Come on man, help us help you.
Not completely unattractive imho. There are quite a few "boutique" dive watch manufacturers out there! See http://divewatchesblog.com/articles/top-boutique-dive-watch-companies/ and http://www.watchtime.com/blog/the-10-best-dive-watch-brands-you-dont-know-about/ for starters
Okay, the usual dive watch style cues are followed right down to the hands (Tudor or Rolex). I'd want my Nacken to have an S in front 'cause I'm always SNACKEN. Nom nom nom!!!!
I'm a bit curious as to how spending $600 now will help you save for a $3000 Black Bay BTW - used Black Bay Reds are dipping below $2000 now, and Blues are around $2400-ish. As more people sell their Blacks they'll go down in value too
This could have been so much better had they called it Kraken. Diving connotation and how much fun would it be when the new models come out?
Or even better, since it's clearly a homage watch, maybe LACKEN would be a better name. It's LACKEN the name Tudor on the dial. (almost forgot the rimshot gif!)
Yeah it's not...it's more like immediate gratification !! I've never been known as one who likes to wait for things!! To be honest I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a Tudor BBB but my finely tuned German ultimate driving machine suddenly wasn't so finely tuned (and right after the warranty ran out!) so my watch purchase budget went right to the dealership. Now being in the buying frame of mind and quickly approaching Christmas with three young boys I don't want to drop another 3k. I don't mind $600 right now...guess it's more of a purchase to scratch the itch more than anything...and I don't know enough about vintage to venture into those waters yet.
Fix it, sell it immediately, lease next time (anything with a roundel, a pointed star, or four interlocking rings.... they have a shelf life of ~4 years) and buy a Tudor
I'd love to lease but I average 30k+ miles per year so the numbers don't work. This one will be paid off in just over a year so I'll do what I did with my last one and drive it until it's cheaper to have another note then fix it! I had 265k in my last BMW before I got to that point so I can't say I didn't get my monies worth!
Since these are work cars for me I always buy the program cars and get the extended warranty. My last one had 13k on it when I bought it with a cracked windshield. It stickered for 46k and I got it for 34k including the warranty. Then I had USAA pay to swap the windshield two weeks in for the cost of my $50 deductible. Its how I can afford the occasional Tudor/Omega!
Lumed crowns? Pretty cool! .....which says a lot because I'm the furthest thing from a lume freak you'll encounter on watch forums.
