Good day all
I hope you are keeping well?

I have the opportunity to buy this Seamaster 166.003 with cal 565 in 18ct gold
BEFORE though I would welcome some opinions please!!

My assessment is:
Dial and hands- original and good condition. ONYX INLAYS?

Case and crown - In 18ct gold and good condition. A bit of wear on the bezel and maybe some rounding on the ends of lugs.

Case has an inscription on the back : "Awarded to CJ Lombard from Ford South Africa 25 years association 1939-1964"
The inscription IMO is okay because it has a story and puts a date to the watch. The seller bought the watch from the original recipients son.

Crown is original semi-recessed?

Movement - Looks clean and has the original yellow gasket?
The photo does not allow to check the movement serial but the seller confirms it is a cal 565.

Bracelet - Gold plated Number 1502 with number 12 endlinks which I believe makes it genuine and probably is original to the watch.

The seller has agreed on a price of $1000 US.

I would prefer to remove the bracelet and put it on a leather strap and wear it as a dress watch!

Photos as I received them

Looks like a winner. You can't go wrong at that price and with the bracelet as well 馃憤

Looks fine to me. Here鈥檚 my stainless steel 1966 model with a 552 movement. Recessed crown, onyx indices like yours. I paid 拢565 and thought I鈥檇 done well but obviously I鈥檇 have expected to pay more for an 18ct with a BoR.

You did really well with the SS model which is classy!

The BOR is a bonus but I would prefer to combine the 18ct case with a leather strap for a dress option.
