I recently acquired this stunning Omega with, from what I believe, is cal.28. It's housed in a 18k rose gold case with cool lugs. I bought it from a reputable dealer who acquired it from the original owners. The watch was bought in the 40s by the father of man who sold it to the dealer. According to the original owner, it has seen the inside of a drawer for the biggest part of its life. According to the original owners, there weren't any parts replaced. However I did find two dates scratched inside the caseback indicating a movement service.

I have searched on Google, but I can't find a similar model to this one. With its special lugs, the colour of the gold, the blue secondshand and the goldstamp on the side of the case, it looks stunning to me. I am wondering what you guys think of it, and if someone is familiar with this particular model.

Would it be worthwhile to get a Omega Extract of the Archives?

Here's the stamp just above the lower right lug.

10 mil serial number puts it at 1944. That is stunning.

    Very attractive piece.

Well, the photo isn't very clear, but if I squint, I think I see the Helvetia hallmark for 18k gold. I guess the OP would have mentioned if there was anything useful inside the case-back, so perhaps it was a locally cased watch.

Indeed, the movement looks like a cal 28.

Thank you for your replies gentlemen. I haven't made a picture of the caseback yet, I'll make one tomorrow.

I zoomed in a bit on the goldmark.

I am not sure that blue seconds hand is original to the watch.

Typically the hands material matches the rest of the dial furniture. A caseback shot with reference would be helpful to understand the overall look better.

I don't know really, but I have occasionally seen pictures of watches with hour and minute hands that match the rest of the watch, but with a blued steel second hand, and I've found that style very attractive. Here's another one a bit similar here, but with center seconds. https://omegaforums.net/threads/my-first-omega-vingage-1940s-ref-2438-2-with-crazy-radium.90889/

(Go check the whole thread, it's a nice watch!)

I do hope that someone with more knowledge than me comes and tells us that the second hand is correct!

Yes steel can blue and that is a somewhat popular feature but wouldn’t this one have had a gold hand?

We really need to find other examples, and the reference number would be very helpful. Maybe the OP can help.

    @werdna77 :
blued sub-sec hands are totally correct for watches this age - you should know as you are not a noob any more...

You did not let us know the diameter

if it is 32,5 mm then it is a reference OT 2432 - if it is larger then it is OT 2437

I think it is the latter as the movement is mounted in a holder ring...

This is a perfect watch throughout - all original and very well preserved - I would have bought it in a whim!

There is no need for an extract of the archives to verify this - unless you want to know the exact production date or country of delivery.
Enjoy this beauty - rose-gold is also my favorite ::love::[/QUOTE]

Stunning piece indeed. I would still order the extract from the archives as it would be a perfect addition to such a time capsule! :)
