The case has clearly been refinished - whether that bothers you is a personal choice.

However a LOT of the case has been polished away to achieve the look the watch now has.

Apart from that everything else looks ok to me.

This being your second thread today and third this week.

What are your thoughts.
You have to do your own homework. 馃槈

Looking better but we need a lot more to critique. Price being important

Crystal is not original, sunburst looks handmade, a bonus is the 1159/154 bracelet.

kind regards Max

the seller claims that the case is unpolished. But I agree, that it doesn't look organic when compared to reference models. how can you tell that the crystal is not original? price is hovering around 3k (USD)

Compare the number 1 of the tachy to an original crystal, I think its an aftermarket crystal you can find on ebay.

Kind regards Max

Meant to say, this is more likely an original crystal:

The seller is not being honest with you

Earlier MKII crystals have the "Tachymetre" printed near the outer edge of the crystal rather than halfway between.

Personally I'm not so sure the case in the OP has been refinished, I think it's down to the lighting in some of the shots making it appear that way, look at the third from bottom pic and it appears much more as you'd expect. It's surprising what lighting can do to these cases(my own MK2 can often appear satin/sandblast in some of my photos, others you can clearly see the original grain and others will make the grain appear much clearer than it does in real life).

I certainly don't think it's lost alot of metal, the distance from the edges and lugs(again taking the third from bottom image) etc. look about correct to me.

I think sometimes people are too quick to jump to conclusions with these as so many are refinished, often badly. Just my opinion to offer balance.

Maybe ask the seller for some better pics.

The crystal, though, is aftermarket, no? Harder to explain away the difference in the number 1.

Not sure there and I don't have mine on me to compare. I wouldn't let the crystal be a deciding factor personally as that could always be replaced later if desired. The case, dial, movement and bracelet would be my main priorities.

[EDIT]found a pic of mine on my works computer, yes the 1's are different for what it's worth. Mine was replaced before I bought it so no idea if the originals were like this.

I also believe the casework is original. There鈥檚 plenty of meat left near the lugs, and the finish seems fine to me. The crystal normally sits a bit above the case surface, but refinished ones accentuate that - this one looks ok. The movement looks clean, and I鈥檝e seen other examples in the 3132xxxx serial range. $3k seems a bit high, but everything seems to have gone up in the past couple of years, and I think the racing version normally commands a small premium.

Mine says hi

I agree, not refinished, factory. If you can refinish by hand to that standard you deserve a medal! It is better than most relapped finishes.
The replaced crystal is no big deal. Minor printing and font changes are to be expected.
The racing dials are very under rated in my opinion. Fabulous dials that make the standard Mk II look drab by comparison. They add about 拢1k over the price of standard dials but I think deserve more.
As an aside, that watch has concentric rings in the sub dials which is unusual, and desirable I would think

The case is not refinished and the crystal is absolutely not a replacement.

+1, fully agree to this!
