Opinion on this 2505

Hi,
If possible I'd like to hear the good and the bad about this particular piece I have here from forum experts. I'm liking the dial and the "patina" it's showing but I did not see any 2505 online with this specific dial setup. That patina is uniform and throughout the dial, i just can't seem to capture it with my mobile as I should.

Only minus I'm seeing is the missing movement screw?

Thank you in advance!

I sure hope the 2505 experts feel that dial is original because it looks great.

I do too I'm on the edge of buying it just because of the dial but would need some confirmation before I commit!

In person it's magical, goes from copper to gold and cream white depending on the light and the patina makes is all that more interesting. And with a watch of this vintage I can live with patina, especially of this kind. Thanks for your input!

Sit tight as there are members well versed in that model who will weigh in soon enough. To me (who is not well-versed) it looks original.

Looks legit to me. Movement appears to be a 30T2 PC, so it's nice to have the shock protection.

Thanks! At a price point of around 500ish what a plain Jane 60s steel Geneve is around these parts should I pull the trigger? I don't plan on adding any further Jumbos to the stable so I think a unique piece with some character would be ok?

I do like this reference quite a bit and have one in my collection. It is reasonably thin for its size and wears very nicely on the wrist. The condition of the dial of the OP watch is obviously a matter of personal taste. I'm not sure what currency you are talking about with "500ish", but it sounds like the watch is really appealing to you, which is the most important thing.

Always in $ for the forums, € for the sales... I always try not to overpay and am trying to re-adjust my collection to reflect quality not quantity as I've made quite a number of errors in the previous years ( re-dials, frankens, beat to hell watches etc.) with this being a patinad piece and patina not being everyones friend I'm trying to find a good measure between heart and reason.

Any members having the same dial variation in their collection? Or aware of this dial variation being sold or listed somewhere? Thanks!

You can find the dial in a ref 2180 pretty readily. Just use Google Images. Smaller gold case with a narrow bezel.

Indeed, I never thought about getting a "Jumbo" so my knowledge is completely blank on the subject. I kind of like the arabic numeral version too but the patina on this one has me sold.

I haven't seen that dial before on a CK2505 (there were many, many dial variants), but it looks age appropriate to me. Great design combined with very attractive patina. The 2505 is my favorite of late-40s/early-50s Omega jumbos. They wear very well given their modern size, and the lugs have a great curve to them. IMHO, the US$ 500ish price makes this watch a solid buy even if it needs a service (which I would suggest given the missing screw). In fact, if you choose not to buy it, send me a PM... Cheers!

Oh, buy it. It’s quite striking and clearly original, I think.
