It's largely correct but not particularly attractive to me. The case has seen quite a bit of polishing and the "tropical" dial is uneven, spotted and rather damaged.
    The price is quite ridiculous.

But they say "Very nice condition" :D
Also, why are they hiding the ref. number but clearly showing the serial number???

Can anyone read that serial? I make it 22829547 which would make it firmly into -65 territory but that caseback is for a -64 or -63 (HF stamp, not present on the -65) and their date estimation is for 1964 so if I have read it right, it asks questions about originality at least, though I guess you do get outlier serials on references from back then. Or I have read it wrong and it is fine for a late -64, the 5th digit is blurry.

    Basically one to avoid IMO.

Geezz..only 18k? And the greed shall continue. Overpolished case and sub par dial has its price I suppose.
You can find much better for that price. Stay away from greedy dealers riding the vintage Speedmaster craze. Be patient. Very patient.

    Good luck

I couldn't make out the ref and didn't read the description, but if the serial/ref don't match then it's even more ridiculous

I had the "pleasure" to see other straight lugged Speedies twice at Meertz earlier this year..besides the misleading description, high asking price and the unattractiveness of the watches in the flesh, I was actually the one who had to point out the flaws ( modern bezel on one, SL Hands on the other, both clearly visible but not disclosed in the listing ) and talk about the watches while the sales person obviously had either no idea or didn't feel obliged to do so. In short, me being customer, I actually presented the watches to the sales person, with very little feedback by the way..a quite ridiculous situation. Buy the seller.

Besides that, all about the watch itself here has been said.

That's easy to explain. These dealers know full well that in today's context (especially vintage Rolex and Speedmasters) would be "investors" will snap these up by virtue of their "investment" appeal not knowing the pitfalls. So they don't really care about your expertise. We've seen this with vintage Rolex when they blew up in price. All those crappy, redone, put together watches are back flooding the market at ridiculous prices. Same will (is happening) with Speedmasters. Good Ed Whites were hard to find when they were in the 4K range. Bad ones were plentiful. Those same crappy watches have reappeared with asking prices of, as in this case, € 18K?!
In today's game, and I reiterate "today", one thing is for sure, if you don't get the best example possible, you're screwed if you pay prices like this for a bad example. Try getting your 18k back with this watch.

    Cheers

I'm suspicious of this one. It's got all the right parts, but not necessarily in the right order. Case is polished badly. Chrono-creep indicates a poor service or unaddressed issue with the hand (6 o clock subdial). Dial isn't to my taste. If they're asking $18k for this, I should really think about selling my 2998.

What bracelet is that? I am thinking about getting something old looking but hopefully not bank breaking for mine.

Thanks, I hadn't figured out which modern end link fitted the 19mm lugs so that helps a lot. I will check out the 1125 too.
