Hi,

Was hoping for a second opinion on the below Omega Seamaster Cal 503 Ref 166.002

Curious if anything jumps out at anyone - I'm very new to Omega in general and while I do love the look of the vintage Seamasters, I have a very untrained eye. I'm by no means a collector, would likely just wear day-to-day so I don't mind if the dial is repainted as long as it's not terribly different from the original as to look foolish.

Naturally I can tell the strap isn't the original either. This appears to be the caliber on Omega Watch's Vintage site (https://www.omegawatches.com/watch-omega-seamaster-calendar-ck-2849) and can't see any major flags other than the markings (but not sure how different those are from watch to watch as this is a black dial)

Appreciate any help! Specifically on a ball park price of what you'd pay for it.

That one is no good.

503 caliber should not be in a 166.002 case. Case has been so polished that I can’t confirm that it’s even a 166.002 main case. Surprisingly, the dial seems un-refinished, assuming that the “Swiss made” text is hidden below the 6 marker, but it seems that several of the markers were replaced as they aren’t all the same (see 1, 4, and 11). Pieced together watch. Run.

Awful watch. It almost looks like the case has been dipped in gold paint or something as there is now no division whatsover between the bezel and the main case. Very weird, those two pieces seem to melt into each other now....an effect I have never seen before and hope not to see again! 👎

Welcome to the forum @DryEye93 - you have done well to check here before buying- sadly we see our share of post purchase critique that ends....badly.
The one above has suffered at the hands of an overzealous visit to the buffing wheel- none of the facets or shape details that normally make these cases so appealing exist anymore- they literally ground it down to a blob.
Look at tons of pics for these 60’s Seamaster’s and you’ll educate your eye on what to look for.
The classified’s here are a safe place to shop- and you can PM any seller if you are interested despite not having 200 posts to rely to a thread directly. Keep in mind thelat authentic black dials are very rare and are always worth far more than their silver dialed counterpart- and there are tons of redials out there that are attempts to deceive (“original refinished dial” is not original anymore) so read up on what your dream watch should look like and continue posting them here before you buy- we’ll try to help you make an educated choice that you can confidently love.
Best of luck with your hunt,
James
