·One of the dimensions on a leather strap that doesn’t seem to get a lot of air time is the thickness.
In general, it seems that dress watches typically wear thinner straps, and sport watches, thicker. This of course makes sense as the latter typically have thicker cases.
That said: what would be your opinion on the optimal thickness of a leather strap for a typical Speedmaster? Straps that are 2mm in thickness just seem too flat for a Speedmaster case. But then when you get to about 4-5mm, if there’s not a taper towards the buckle, it’s hard to get the strap end into the keepers. What have you found to be the sweet spot?
