What was the price?

I was told 127k CHF. Depending on the VAT of where you live, might be a bit more...

Just noticed quite a few months seem to be missing on the top register and some months repeated???

Apparently the small hash marks in between the noted months represent the 2 missing months--I do not like that, esp for a whopping 127K CHF

A most enjoyable write up, thank you sir! The minute track on the blue dial has to be seen live to be fully appreciated.

I’m curious why you didn’t mention the bracelet micro-extension....you know it has one, right? It’s probably the key plus (for me) over a Globemaster. But the GM is still tops.

this perpetual design is quite commended in videos and reviews online, for having a single subdial tracking 4 years in a single rotation. eliminates the need for a leap year indicator. i do think its a bit busy.

From a simplicity point of view; hard to beat the Klaus designed IWC 3750. Best "bang for the buck" perpetual out there (IMHO); includes annum indicator and everything controlled from the stem (no buttons). Leap year consideration is geared in.

I really like some VC watches, but I can't look at the logo without thinking of Nazi imagery. I understand that the logo pre-dated Nazi-ism, but they coopted the Iron (Maltese) Cross, and of course it's still widely used by white supremacist groups. It's just a huge turn-off for me and I can't imagine owning a watch with that logo on the dial.

A few years back I considered the VC Overseas. Ended up choosing the AP Royal Oak 15400 (41mm) instead.

We all make mistakes. 😁

You wrote this somewhere else and now we should clarify something.

1. The Maltese Cross by Vacheron Constantin and the Iron Cross, which reminds you of Nazis, are two completely different designs with different shapes and have historically nothing to do with each other.

MALTESE CROSS

2. The Iron Cross is also not a symbol of the Nazis, but has been used as a symbol of the Teutonic Knights since the Middle Ages and was used by the Prussian kings as an award for soldiers from 1813 onwards. Therefore, nothing was co-opted or taken over. These are two completely different symbols.

IRON CROSS

3. This is the current symbol of the German army. Believe me, if the symbolism of this cross had any roots in National Socialism, it would not be today's badge.

GERMAN ARMY SYMBOL

It is of course your personal decision whether you want to wear a watch with a Maltese cross or not. But please don't connect this centuries-old symbol to the Nazis or today's racist idiots.

As a VC fanboy, you may not want to see the resemblance, but I think that any objective observer would admit that the VC logo looks quite a bit like the Iron Cross used widely by Nazis and skinheads. Basically the only difference is the shape of the four outer edges (straight vs. slightly v-shaped).

I totally understand that these symbols have much longer histories, but when they are so heavily associated with certain things, the ancient history really doesn't matter so much anymore. It's quite disingenuous to say that the Iron Cross is not associated with the Nazis because it was actually a symbol of the Teutonic Knights. Of course it is connected with the Nazis. Why else would it be used by white supremacists. It's like saying that the swastika isn't associated with the Nazis because it is an ancient Hindu symbol. It's true, but irrelevant.

So to me, the VC logo is strongly connected visually to the Iron Cross, which clearly has strong symbolic connections to Naziism and white supremacy. It's not your place to say what connections I can make or can't make, it's my opinion and my emotional reaction related to the graphics, based on my lifelong experience with various symbols. Anyway, I'm not the one making the connection, the connection is already there, and it's obvious. You're jumping through ridiculous hoops trying to explain away a graphical connection that would be apparent to a four year old. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with VC as a company or that they have Nazi connections, but I have a negative visceral reaction to their logo, and I am not the only one who feels that way. It's just bad luck for VC, much like companies named Isis or Corona in recent years.

Anyway, sorry to hi-jack this thread, my dislike of the VC logo has absolutely nothing to do with the OP watch.

Dan S "It's not your place to say what connections I can make or can't make, it's my opinion and my emotional reaction related to the graphics, based on my lifelong experience with various symbols"

True--- one sees what they see----every time I see a short mustache I think of Adolf Hitler, so to me short mustaches are a hate symbol

I didn't think that was Munichblue's point which for me was more like:

"Care must therefore be used to correctly interpret a symbol in whatever context in which it may be found"

Never thought of it this way, but now that you say it Patek Philippe Logo also has some resemblance with the Iron Cross 😀 😲

After considering the one watch to rule them all idea as mentioned above, I decided I can't bring myself to move to one watch yet. That said I always liked VC. The problem I had was I have an AP ROC as my high end piece and the new Overseas line was too expensive to justify adding, meaning I would really need to sell the AP to justify it.

I recently picked up a 49150 which is now getting lots of wrist time. So much so that the AP may get sold! The VC is definitely in the same league as the AP quality wise, runs the same (albeit heavily modified) base movement, but is much less expensive than the AP. The lesser bling factor is better in 90% of situations too.

I still like the idea of a 4500v as an only watch but I'm not there yet 😀

all four months indicated repeated three times to correspond to the 4 year cycle.

i dont understand though why VC did it that way. That subdial doesnt look impressive to me.

In Europe it’s EUR 21k.
It's a lot of watch for the money in all fairness.
