Some of you guys are into racing, see if you can spot what this guy did wrong... Start watching at about 48:10 the really obvious issue is at 50:20.

Then we get his side of the story... I am curious as to how people feel about his version... How do you feel after watching him tell it? I do think I see some cross over with watch collecting mentalities. I highly recommend going to almost the end...

I watched as I spotted the M3 oval right hand mirror and noticed the Laguna Seca Blue paint. I owned that car (e46) in the same color. I love the mechanical sound of that inline 6, so I had to watch.

I didn’t see the yellow, I thought it could have just been a track day and not a race. Most of the times I’ve been on a track we are not allowed to pass on the inside, and I thought it was the issue.

It’s recommended to keep an eye on the marshalls all around the track when racing, they’re there for a good reason 😀

To translate the situation to the OF world, he kept bumping several private sales posts same day 😁

Look noob error I get it. But after he made the huge obvious error and continued to pass after he saw the black flag while it was obvious the course was under full yellow.

His excuse after is what bugs me. Dropping names and punishing the series for a track Marshall being heated after putting other track marshals in danger... not cool in my mind, even with his attempts at being ok with it. He violated pretty much the most important rule in place to protect track workers.

He lost all credibility when he started discussing money and sponsorships.

Honestly, I don't have the impression he's flat-out. Looks more like a good gentleman driver in a race. He certainly had the impression he's in a crazy rush and can overtake all those moving chicanes but that's exactly the moment where you'd better question mark others' behavior and keep watching the marshalls closer.

I really like the upgrades made to the major tracks with big LED displays that will blink with flag colors. Very helpful, especially when racing at even higher speed. And much better in the dark...

@kov those are not owned by the tracks in most cases but by the racing series.

But you nailed it. If other people are slow and you see the marshals and a truck...

I just felt zero remorse off of the guy... I know that if I did that I’d expect a tongue lashing worthy of a career Navy guy that’s stuck at XO...

This is a pretty one-sided case - the guy's a total jackass, missed over twenty yellows and initiated a pass at the exact point where there's track workers helping a disabled vehicle.

He goes into the numbnuts hall of fame for posting a video A YEAR AFTER THE EVENT to castigate those he felt wronged his fragile ego in some way.

But he said twice he doesn’t have a fragile ego lol.

Also I loves how he claims it could have been a teachable moment and apparently learned nothing.

Hi all

Well to me the first major Red Flag not the waved yellows or Black Flag is when he states he has never driven the car or raced in this type of race and yet didn't think it was important enough to turn up for the practice day!!!! Really that just blew my mind and what ever he says about it being a friends team and he was invited I am fairly confident he is what I class as a gentleman driver and was paying some serious dollars for his drive and even then I am amazed the Team manager let him race without doing practice.

As for not noticing the waved Yellow flags that's bad driving and etiquette even for a novice driver and not noticing all the other drivers slowing down so he was suddenly on their tails and able to pass quite frankly is just not believable for anyone in a race car on a track anywhere in any type of race. Just my 2 cents and opinion.

I agree. I take my daughter to a go-kart track maybe once or twice a year. It’s the simplest form of racing and anyone can do it. The first thing they teach is when to stop or slow down, and where the flags are. It’s the very first thing any racer learns.

Watching him on that video, he doesn’t look like someone out for the first time, and he’s definitely not driving basic equipment. I don’t buy that he was innocent in any way, hence the deserved tongue lashing.

His website makes a big thing of his racing -- to help sell his books?

https://johnhopebryant.com/home/page/63

And the race organiser's side is put here:
http://americanenduranceracing.com/docs/bryant-repsonse.pdf

I don't think I would want to be in the same race as someone with that lack of observation.

Think it's fixed now.
That letter is how you call someone a dumbass with decorum!
