I agree with @gatorcpa on the most recent watch, it's really beat up. I wouldn't be happy with the condition, especially for a dress watch like a gold-capped Constellation. If you are looking to buy in Japan, you might want to buy directly on Yahoo Japan. It's an auction site like eBay with no returns, so it's more risky than buying from a dealer, but since you seem very price-conscious, I'm not sure you're going to find a good watch within your budget from a dealer. Decent run-of-the-mill gold-capped or SS Constellations without bracelets sell for $1k or less routinely.

Tim has always been up front when dials on his watches have been redone.

Not with me he wasn’t. I bought my first dog from him. I’d advise not buying from him.

The dog is on the right; its replacement (with a sticker on the crystal) is on the left.

When I joined OF and decided that I wanted to buy my first Constellation, I read everything that other members told me to read, studied, asked questions, studied, asked more questions, and took a lot of time to search. This was the result and I still have it:

Moral of the story: take your time, do your homework and listen to the advice of the established members on OF. The world's most experienced and knowledgeable collectors of vintage Omega watches are right here and most are very willing to help you learn.

Beautiful piece m8. This is total goals for my collection.

Curious what exactly the description for said dog was?

Unfortunately the PDF I created of the listing got truncated but this should give you an idea. I didn’t take screenshots of all of it. Note the incorrect bracelet with fake endlinks.

So was it actually misdescribed or you simply weren't happy with it?

Misdescribed and I didn’t know any better. Beautiful original finish, bah. Original bracelet, bah. Original finish dial, I don’t think so.

Any feedback on this one from Closer? Obviously some texture to the dial. Can someone provide insight on what that means besides some natural aging/“patina”. Water damage? Seller sights +48s/day so running a bit rough. Heavier scratches for sure than some of his other offerings and priced at $1300

Nope, not this one

Just wondering if the OP has given any thought to dome dialed vintage Constellations in lieu of the pie pan references? Many dome dialed references are quite elegant and are generally priced lower than their pie pan cousins. OP, have a look at this thread for some gorgeous examples:

Prefer a pie pan but definitely open to a dome dial. They are beautiful as well. Seen several examples in videos and pictures I would be honored to be paired up with. Will continue to be patient and broaden my search. Thanks again.

Thank you for reminding me. I do remember seeing this now and it is a truly gorgeous piece but well out of my price range. Maybe when I’m celebrating two stars… . Should you come join us at the restaurant, however, I would be honored to see it in person.
Am I the only one who feels there may be a deal to be done here between you and @DRjre086 ?
Many people trade for watches using things other than cash. Or maybe a service in addition to a smaller amount of cash

You have a Michelin star restaurant with fantastic food (presumably)

Might be worth thinking outside the box and having a discussion

The first constellation I bought was a dome dial, I always wanted a pie pan but was unsure if I would be happy wearing a 34mm watch and it was cheaper than plunging straight into a piepan. I need not have worried, it's a elegant size. It was soon followed by a pie pan, and then a C case. Oh, anyone told you, Constellations can become addictive😀.
All three were bought here on OF, I believe the best quality and value are to be had here, one that suits you will eventually pop up.
Some pics, every post needs pics.
