    Hello All,

I've been lurking here for the past few weeks and appreciate all that you write as it's helped me get information as towards my first purchase of a Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. I'm enamored with the history of the watch and am about to ready to take the plunge. I just wanted some feedback to make sure I'm in the proper ballpark price wise. I will not post the names of the ADs but I've visited three in my area (I'll withhold where I am as I'm unsure if it's okay to reveal that as it may reveal the ADs [of course I'll post if asked and it's okay]) and I was able to get a best offer of $4,000 BNIB for the 311.30.42.30.01.005. While I'd love some of the more unique Speedys this is in my range. Thanks to what you all have written here, I've read the +/-s re: going grey market, etc. and I think for this first Omega I want to go with an AD. I was just looking for a little more feedback (confirmation?) that I'm about where I should be price wise. It seems like I could do slightly better (at best $3,750?) but there is one AD I felt very comfortable with and it may be the start of a nice relationship and for that I'm willing to pay slightly more. Thanks in advance for any and all responses and I look forward to participating here more in the future.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what that means. Again, pretty new.

I believe he's referencing your username of Viper...as the F-16 is often called the Viper.

Regardless, the standard issue Speedmaster Pro Moonwatch is a heck of a watch (in my humble opinion)...and regardless of who you decide to go with, I believe you'll really groove on it. Welcome to OF!

Another nickname for it is "lawn dart" - at least that's what an F-15 pilot told me once...;)

It possible you can do much better than the price you have now. Have you tried the preowned market? I think what makes the new one expensive are the boxes, etc. I bought mine about 2 or 3 yrs ago...older style box. Why pay more for the presentation? ..smile...
It's basically the 3570 but difft model number renamed only..

I would stay away from the grey market! But as jeffgo888 said, check out the pre-owned market! There are a lot of Speedys out there for sale in great condition! Best of all for a better price! Good luck!

I agree, I bought my 3570 with box and papers pre-owned, you'll get a much better deal (as long as you do your research).

Then you'll have money towards your second speedy ;)

First, I can honestly say I am in no way responsible for any enabling going on.

Second, any one who wishes to throw a lawn dart like an F16 onto my lawn is welcome to do so. You don't even have to arm it!

EDIT: adding the 2 auxiliary fuel tanks as pictured above would be nice though.

I vote pull the trigger on the Pro from your AD. $4k is a good price for a BNIB from a shop. This is your first purchase and having the piece of mind is valuable getting it from the store. The NATO strap which comes with the new presentation box is very nice and I enjoy regularly changing between bracelet and strap.

Then, once you have one and realize that is not enough...there are a number of very excellent sellers around here for you to pick up your second, third, and fourth!

It's an amazing watch, go for it and enjoy!!

what's MSRP/sticker price these days for the 311.30.42.30.01.005? A $4K offering represents what % discount?
