Hi Everyone, I bought my first Omega last year. An Omega Seamaster 600.
Just recently I've bought at auction an Omega Ref 2488-7 Cal 265? The case measures 34mm without the crown and it has sulptured Lugs. The number on movement starts 117, so is 1947 or after.
The Dial but as some patina, which I fill if removed would destroy it's oringinality. The Watch has a nice Two Tone Gold Dial
I would like to find out more about the watch. If anyone can help.

If you like the watch and want to wear it, then it will be worth the cost to have it serviced because you will get use and enjoyment from the watch. Other than that, it's very difficult to answer your questions because they are quite subjective.

I think this is a fantastic watch, but sometimes the Heart rules the Head. As a cost of service new Crown and Crystal wont be cheap. Would it still be exceptable I surpose most vintage watch have been restored one way or another.

IMO, there is no reason to replace the crown and crystal if they are serviceable. Since you like the watch, just get it running properly and enjoy it.

Actually the Watch does run for about 8 !/2 hours when wound. It's just I seem to be drawn towards Watches with a bit of original charater. The face changes with light light and dark.

How much did you pay for it. To me that is a factor when deciding if a service is worth it (don’t throw good money after bad). But then again if you plan to wear it its another story.
