Love these watches—and they wear bigger than their dimensions suggest.

Can’t speak to originality or authenticity—don’t have the expertise. Will say that it looks to be in remarkably good shape, assuming it’s not a refinished dial.

Did you have any specific questions or concerns about it?

Hi no not really i know it’s good I bought it from a guy from a forum group, I just wanted to know if there are any stories, I just know that they were issued to the army in 1945, I just thought there might be more to the story ?

You have peaked my interest, I will need to do some research on these and see if I can find one for my birth year. 1946

Lovely watch - I also have one of these. You have an original dial with radium lume with the stepped sub-seconds. The hands also appear original. The radium lume on the dial and the hands appear to match. Overall it looks like a very good example. I'm pretty sure it's an honest watch, but I am a little bit suspect on your numerals though - I would register and post on the military watch forum as the real experts are on there to check it out.

The 30T2 movement is a workhorse and should be relatively easy for any watchmaker to service. I have recently had mine serviced by a vintage specialist and recommend you do the same, if you intend to wear the watch regularly.

As you can see, I have a later MkII military 'replacement' dial, without the stepped sub seconds. I also have syringe hands on mine. My watch would have had the radium dial and hands swapped out in the 50's for the later replacements. This is rarer, but there are collectors for all models of dirty dozens so there isn't one better than another. Just simply a matter of individual preference and what you like.

These watches originally came on a webbing Af.0210 strap where you made your own hole in the strap with the sharpened buckle tang. They're practically impossible to find in original condition, expensive, and personally I have no interest to own an old strap. Rob Fraser makes excellent reproduction straps which are true to the original, and he's a pleasure to deal with. They're very comfortable and a fun throwback to wear it on one once in a while.
