OMEGA Website Images Errors 300M Collection

I spent quite a bit of time (an embarrassing amount) trying to discern the exact differences between the SMP 44mm 300M Chronograph and the 41.5. I went to the source (Omega website) as no local jewelry store has the 44mm example to compare directly to my 41.5.

I could NOT find a difference between the 41.5 Chronograph and the 44 in the collection images to select from on their web site.

Then one of the members here (Alshilly? SP? Royal Engineer) posted his 44mm baby and the differences jumped out. Then I compared his Omega SMP 300M Diver to the Omega website and their error became evident. Somebody apparently thought they were being efficient (clever?) by copying the 41.5 and stretching the image larger, posting the enlarged stretchy version as the 44mm.

I wrote a note to Omega on their website Customer Service and got confirmation it was received. We'll see what they do.

    This is what I wrote:

"Are you aware that the photographs/images intended to portray the selection of 300M Diver Chronographs of the 44mm size are in fact pictures of the 41.5 in both the black and blue examples.
Therefore you give the incorrect impression that both the 44mm and 41.5mm differ only in size. In fact, an imaginary circle surrounding the sub dials would be the same size for both, but the space between the '6 o'clock' dial and the '30' number on the outer rim should be greater than it is and that extra space should be evident all the way around the rim. I've been trying to figure out how you could possibly make the 44 look so close to the 41.5, until I saw pictures of the 44 'in the wild' and discovered this 'mistake'. Do you intend to fix it?"

Could be a preproduction watch on the website. I've caught a few of those from other makers.

speaking about the Omega site, one thing I noticed is that unlike other companies, Omega does not mention case thickness in the product sheets found online - at least the few models I looked at....:cautious: I wonder if they don't want to discourage potential customers who dislike watches with thick cases...

I noticed it too, and just assumed the same thing as you. The SMP 300M Co-axial Ceramic is 17mm thick (.668"). I call it my FAT BOY. ;-)
That is not really a selling point.

Possibly...with a size confusion thrown in for good measure. ;-)
