hi there I'm new to this thread but a long time omega collector, I want to know if any of you guys on here can share any light on this piece I found not long ago, I love it, but can't find any details on it.. The case is solid 18ct and everything seems to be genuine from birth, never seen these type of lugs etc so very interested

Do you see any serial or reference perhaps caliber number? Serial and caliber should be on the movement reference on the case back (most likely 4 digits). The case is quite unusual it could be a rare watch or a re-cased movement-dial combo. Just my 2Cs

I must say it does not look like any Omega case I've seen before.

The back case is signed by omega and the ref dates it to 1946, although the movement has no calibre no

The number that dates the movement is not the reference number but the serial. The reference would help us too though. Post a photo of the movement and the inside of the case back for further info.

1946 looks to be the correct period for this watch.

The reference numbers weren't consistently used by Omega at that point in time. I don't know the caliber of the movement by sight.

Very nice condition on the watch with natural timing of the lacquer on the dial. I wouldn't call it "rare", but there is always the intrinsic value of 18K gold there.

    Hope this helps,
    gatorcpa.

Your help is much appreciated thank you, I must say the reason for buying is the colour on the dial and overall condition, it's a very nice watch in person. Thanks

It is out of the Cal. 28 aka 360 family and these watches are pretty uncommon, much rarer than the Cal 30 T2 aka 26x examples.

Enjoy it as it is a very nice watch with rare lugs and pristine guts.

    Hi,
There's a 1941 advertising with this watch in AJTT :

1941 and 'extra plat' I suppose it is the R17.8 version.
I have one R17.8 with the steel version of this case. It has been sitting for years in my project box, waiting for a non destroyed dial :
