And so I walk around Florence with my wife and see an Omega store.

The super friendly staff hosted me, we drank coffee and the store manager said “I see you’re like a little kid next to the watches, come let me show you something special”. 🍿

When he took out this watch I almost fainted. I played with it for about 10 minutes and after all they gave me a bag full of goodies. Best customer exprirence ever!

They said it was in platinum and only few examples were made. It feels like a brick on your hand but amazing craftmanship in every aspect. 🥰

Always nice to get a pleasant experience in an AD or boutique. It’s one reason I shop with Omega, not the scowls you get from Rolex and a “no we don’t have any sports models.”

Rude to not buy a platinum tourbillon when offered 😝

Seriously though thanks for sharing the pics!!

Incredible to be able to see it in the metal.

This is one case ($235k) where saying you're going to think about it when walking out the door is not something the SA will believe.::rimshot::

I get the point of it, I just don't understand why anyone would want a watch that you can't see the time on it. A bit like those stupid fashion shows with clothes that make the wearer look like something between a clown and a stupid clown.

Don't you mean a fashion show where the model is a skeleton wearing a see-thru dress?

Here's one where you can see the "hands":

When you look at it, last thing you think about is time. Who needs hands anyways?! 🤨

Absolutely agree. I stop in to the OB on 5th Avenue every time I’m in NYC. I own five Omegas and purchased one for my wife as well. Never bought a thing from the OB, had one repair done through them, and am still treated like royalty every time I come by to window shop and chat about watches. They are a class act.

Congratulations ! Definitely the reasonable choice, compared to this one: https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/...-axial-limited-edition-38-7-mm-51398392156001

And obviously it is 8:39 and 50 seconds.... ;-)

Regarding visiting Omega stores while on vacation: I think stores in places where people vacation are more set up (in their mindset) and accommodating towards walk-in customers. Even customers with not-so-perfect command of the local language, like in my case. I had a very pleasant experience at the Rue de Sevres (spelling hopefully close) Omega boutique in Paris. We chatted about Seagull chronos, and then they searched through their complete Omega catalog - a really nice book; can one buy that, or get it for free? Maybe with a tourbillon ;-) - to find the right - and no longer in production - Speedmaster for me, which they then recommended to buy used. I'm not sure whether they even recommended to look for one specifically from Japan, which is where I eventually obtained it from, but in any case they were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Without me buying a tourbillon (or anything).
