Heads up there’s a nice original Omega thin arrow coming up in the Tennants auction this month.

Thank you but this was unnecessary for obvious reasons...
Well I certainly would of liked a heads up if it’s something someone’s after,

If you are after these, you have an eBay, Bidspotter, Saleroom search already in place. You do not wait for somebody giving a heads up.

I'm, in general, not a fan from posting live auctions which may have a chance of going (a bit) under the radar....

That is exactly why they are upset. They want to get these as cheaply as possible, so the more that know about it, the more competition will be there, and the more they will pay.

This potentially cuts into profits, and nobody likes that...

What a shame 👍

Not something I will be bidding on, but I think it’s a bit tacky to post this, unless you are going to bid and you really feel that you need group feedback.

Look I know people that have said they’d like one of these and shared it for that reason so they can have a go, looks like I’ve put noses out of joint that was not my intention, again sorry if I don’t care what you think.

It’s not a secret anyway if you type in the model it pops up so really not a big deal.

🤨 I guess we can thank you for that warning. I will attempt to steer clear of any threads or posts of yours in the future.

If I knew someone who wanted this watch, I would certainly PM them about it. I think they would appreciate that more. In fact, I often contact my friends if I see something for sale that they want.

It’s not a secret anyway if you type in the model it pops up so really not a big deal.
Then why post it? Did you have a question? Or something to discuss? Or just trying to call attention to yourself and advertise the watch?

I’m not sure it’s only dealers that want to buy as cheaply as possible.

I know different forums have different views on this, but I’m also of the opinion that live auctions shouldn’t be posted unless it’s by someone seeking advice. I don’t see the reasoning. Why not search the forums for someone with a WTB and contact them directly ? At least that way you’re steering it towards collectors rather than both collectors and dealers.

That's why I said potentially - that word was inserted just for this argument, that was seen coming kilometers away...still...

As far as I know, there's no hard rule here prohibiting it, so people berating the OP for doing something he thought would help people, is making this place look like it's full of vultures (maybe it is?). If there is a hard rule for it, then reporting the post would be the best way to stop it.

This is not the first time this has happened, and the same reaction from many of the same people is what comes around pretty much every time. Then the pile on starts unless the OP bows down and begs forgiveness. I guess the lesson for the OP is that no good deed goes unpunished - wonderful approach from the forum.

While I'm not sure of the purpose of posting links to live auctions if one did not have specific questions about a lot, I would resign as a moderator here if the forum were to ban links to auctions.

This forum is all about open and honest dialogue and education. Once censorship starts, there is no turning back. I'm sorry if it cuts into the margins of some of our professional dealer (or advanced collector) members, but IMO everyone should have an opportunity to bid if they want to.

I guess it was just intentionally provocative then… still…

I’m fairly certain sure there isn’t any rule here about this (and I agree it’s not really fair to pile on to an OP who’s only trying to help), but I’ve seen threads like this where an OP turns out to be the actual owner, where an OP pumps a reference they own at every possibility, and so on. I’m not questioning the OPs motives here, but a think there’s a lot of cynicism from people who’ve seen it all before.
