Here's another one. The seller says it's original, except for relume of the hands and indices.

Is he correct?

Total redial. Terribly polished case. Totally destroyed watch. So far from a collectors specimen you can get.

But if you're after something shiny and good looking to use as a daily beater, and to show current time pretty well, and you don't care if it's original or not, by all means go ahead and buy it

Nope, wouldn't be interested in that...

I thought at first it was the same watch as the first one I posted above, but they're two different watches, minute track different, hands different; maybe the same re-dialer, though!

As a general rule, to recognise a genuin Suveran-dial, look out for the closed minute track around the dial. Like this one.

At least this goes for the 2400-5 and upwards, those marked back with the wording " Omega Suveran" only.

2400-5 being a transitional reference; they could also have a backed stamped like this (the older stamping):

When you see a caseback looking like that, I would say that it´s OK if the dial has an open minute track like this

I've seen 'Swiss Made' missing on many of these that are still considered 'original'. Other ones have it.

Are Suveran's unique in this regard?

Or is it commonly missing on WWI era Omega's in general?

As a follow-up to Martin's nice explication of chapter rings and case backs on these, here is my earlier 2500-4 without chapter ring (and this has SWISS MADE -- I don't think there's a rhyme or reason to its presence or absence in the '40s, but I could be wrong!).

That's a beautiful example. 🥰

I will need to call 'Dibs'!

And a nice two-piece leather strap... I'm looking for one just like that for my Tg195... and my future Suveran, too 😉!

That one is an IW tan pigskin open-end strap (which is $10 I think). It's just the one I had lying around although this watch of course has spring bars...

@adam78 I wouldn't expect to find swiss made in the bottom of a Suveran dial. I would be more comfortable in finding that dial on an early ref 2639 (1950)

Martin, perhaps you are right. I never questioned it since I've owned it, but I'm not nearly the guru of these that you are!

So, having 'Swiss Made' on a Suveran might raise suspicions..😒

... but the one on yours, @adam78 , looks very well printed and 'factory-like'.

Perhaps yours is just exceptional in more than just its beauty!

I think Martin was suggesting that at some point a former owner may have switched out an original dial from a 2639 to this Suveran, not that the dial per se wasn't original.

7 x 2400 from the early to mid 40ies, whereof only one of them has Swiss Made in the dial. What does that tell you?

Well even the experts accepts that not all what happened back then were consistent. I am not saying it is correct, but have seen some of them. Mine will be swapped to one without Swiss Made when i find a nice one 😀
