    Hi All.
    Just got this lobster speedsonic.
Unfortunately the dial is in very poor condition.
I presume finding a correct one will be extremely difficult.
Any idea who or how to restore it?
    Thanks for any ideas.
    I love the watch.
    Thanks

Best to leave this one alone and search for a replacement. Any attempt at improving this one will likely not end well.

For what its worth, I like the dial as is. Would just get it serviced and get the case and crystal cleaned up. I think your onto a winner.

I definitely think that a replacement dial would improve this (if available). I suspect that whatever the top coating of the dial is, it's started to crack and flake off - see the missing letters in "chronometer" Apart from the fact that it would bug the hell out of me to have that level of dial degradation, bits of debris floating around inside watches are generally not a good thing. If a replacement dial is unavailable, then I'd suggest that whoever you get to do any work on it is asked if they can at least stabilise the dial.

I'd say leave as is too. It looks ok even for the state it's in. A replacement if you can find one

Embrace the "patina". It's like the wrinkles in Clint Eastwood's grizzled face.

I've never seen or heard of this model before. "Tuning fork" movement like the early Bulovas? Thanks for the education.

You might say exactly like a Bulova... since it was licensed from Bulova.

Also Bulova existed way before that movement.

In ten years collectors will be going crazy over these "golden fish scale" dials. ;)

Leave dial as is, start the trend. Does look cool. Not dirty or trashed looking so...
    Cool unit.

On eBayPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network. It's not exactly the same dial but I wonder if it can nevertheless be substituted.

I'm interested to know what sort of conditions would have produced this effect on the dial?
