Omega Speedsonic Lobster - A few questions!

Hello fellow watch collectors,

I noticed on some of the Omega Speedsonic Lobsters that are showing up on ebay, chrono24 etc that the sub dial hand at 12 o'clock is sometimes polished stainless and other times painted white - does any one know which is correct?

It appears there are two versions of the dial - each with different hour markers, would the case with the hand as well?

Also does any one know of a place to get one of the "lugs" for the lobster bracelet? I am guessing they're no longer available from Omega for quite some time now. I am looking at a watch that has one of the lugs looking a bit worse for wear. The top appears fine but the underside is fairly beat up and doesn't line up in the middle. I suppose it could be repaired?

Thank you all kindly in advance.

I will send you a PM with a good watchmaker that repaired a really badly bent lug and bracelet issues. Note that the speedsonic bracelet has a unique inner webbing. If that webbing is damaged badly then you need a new bracelet or some creative rivets/welding.

When you say lug do you mean the first cover link that goes over the lugs? Here’s mine.

And yes the chrono functions are white, the normal time silver.

Thanks for the help both of you! Both of your watches look amazing!

Here are the pictures - one side appears fine the other.. not so much. The mesh seems intact, but the bottom side of the lug cover is all bent. I imagine it could be bent back to proper shape? I managed to track down a NOS crystal, other than the lug cover it just really needs a polish to clean up some desk diver marks.

Thank you for the PM - seems like he's the guy to go to if he managed to clean up your lobster bracelet to look like that!

Im sure that my watchmaker's case/bracelet guy can fix that and maybe add a weld or two for stability. He does a great job as you can see in my previous pics. I sold another project lobster I bought a few years back that was in considerably worse condition (pic below). Someone (not my watchmakers guy) decided to just weld up the backside since the webbing was removed and it no longer had stability. The exterior looked perfect though. Make sure you do not lose the spring bars if you decide to investigate the bracelet issues more. The bars are rare and specially designed to clip through the end link into the lug. I think the Speedsonic lobsters have the quirkiest bracelet ever made.

Oh wow now I really don't feel so bad! Thank you the picture really helped put it into perspective. I agree - they look cool but it's obvious why they don't make them anymore lol

Hey folks - I ended up getting a Lobster! I had my local retired watch guy do a service (he's repaired hundreds of the Tuning fork watches) and now it wont run, the coils are good but he said the little integrated circuit is no longer functioning (it worked when dropped off). Normally he'd just order a new circuit but he says he can't get them anymore. Does anyone have one they'd be willing to part with stashed away or know where I could get one?

Thanks again!

I sent you a PM with watchmaker info. Most of them won't send you spare parts. If it is just the circuits attached to the coil needing repair, then I think Chris Radek is your guy. You could send him just the coil itself for repair. Buying spare coils on ebay is a minefield.
