I will say the polished sides of the 1958/957 bracelet aren't really that noticeable on the wrist. I posted some photos of it earlier in this thread trying to highlight the polished parts... I'm just not sure I like it on bracelet as much as I like it on nato, velcro, or strap though.

Also, the dial is definitely a dark matte gray.

Just got a new strap, phenomenato with brushed hardware. It'd be nice if Omega had more brushed hardware nato straps...

How folks finding the OEM leather strap?

My original thought was it seemed thin and plasticy, but from recent photos my opinion is shifting a little.

Im definitely a strap guy, wondering whether to run with the OEM or get in a new thicker two-stitch strap on either a lighter brown or black.

Get a new one... 😉

Thanks! I think I'll have to run with it and then see how I feel 😀

Something I've picked up on a few people saying is the face and bezel are more grey than black, is that the case?

Yes it's much more a dark grey than black, like a deep Charcoal. Also the subdials are much more silver than white.

I never thought of the exposed lugs with the 1450, but now when you mentioned it, it's hard to unsee! Man, the 1171 looks really really nice on the speedy.

The 1171 seems to be easier to get hold of, does it fit straight out of the box with 633 end links? Any idea how the quality and feel is compared to newer bracelets? What price can one expect to pay?

I've owned the newer bracelet with my Apollo-Soyuz I used to own. I will say that felt an infinitely more modern quality bracelet(more solid and weighty), it is also more expensive (I think it's +£500). The 1171 feels cheap when you first pick it up (UK retail is £340), folded links rather than solid, same with the endlinks, but for some reason I really love it after wearing it for a good few days /couple of weeks. Hard to explain but it has a certain charm and I really like the looks on the ST. It's also very comfortable with much more flex in the links, it has a vintage feel which makes sense as is obviously based on a vintage bracelet.

It fits straight from the pack with the 633 end links that come with it, it's a bit tricky to fit the first time (very snug) but much easier after that. Last time I swapped to it from a leather it took me seconds compared to about 5 mins the first time.

Yes, dependent of the light it changes from grey to dark-grey to black. Really nice because this makes the contrast to the silver subdials much softer... 👍

I just popped by the Omega boutique in Dallas, TX today and was shooting the breeze with the folks there. Turns out they've already received and sold a ST in the #500s. Here's to hoping a second one shows up there soon, with my # on it of course ;-)

So I pulled the trigger on a more desirable (to me) vintage speedy and have to pass on the speedy Tuesday. I'm gonna be mega curious to see who gets #715. Please reach out to me and let me know if you do! 😀

The honeymoon phase over by day two already?......I must say, and it's been said before in this thread a few times and unfortunately I'm starting to agree; the legibility is not that great. I've been noticing I'm double taking when looking at the time almost every time. I really hope this doesn't sway me from keeping it :-(

Glad someone said it. I found the brushed hands hard to read against the white subdials. Compare that to my panda speedy with polished hands against a white dial, I've never once thought it's hard to read.
