I owned an Omega Speedmaster Skywalker X-33 for quite a while and liked it a great deal. Flip-itus caused me to sell/trade it some time ago, but I've kind of missed it ever since. While I had it, the Solar Impulse version was introduced, and I really liked the green and blue color combination. So as fate would have it, I happened to see one the other day and I couldn't resist grabbing it. I'm very happy with my latest purchase. I don't like NATO straps and I have a small wrist and it makes the strap kind of tent up over the spring bars and leaves a lot of excess strap, so I switched it for this Borealis dive strap. It's too bad (for me) because I really like the green and blue of the OEM NATO. If I can find a two piece in those colors, I'll switch it out.

Splendid selection!

One option, if you like the OEM NATO, but can't live with the extra flappy piece, is to cut it off. When you do, carefully heat the cut end (on the part still attached to the strap) to eliminate fraying. I do this to most of my NATO straps. It reduces the over height and makes wearing a NATO a lot better. It is basically a single pass strap after that mod.

I've done that a number of times - I did it on my NTTD Seamaster strap. I'll have to check to see if I'll still have a keeper, tho.

Always loved the color combination on that x-33. Good strap you put on there, I've never seen one of those and it looks good. If you end up cutting the nato it comes with post some pictures please. Have a good weekend!

If it's a keeper why wouldn't you buy a Ti bracelet that goes with it ?
I have my eye out for one - I had it on my first one and I loved it. I just haven't seen one come up for sale yet.

It's possible to convert the NATO into two-piece:

Original titanium bracelet from standard X-33 is also not a bad idea:

I second the titanium bracelet. I have it on mine and it’s a keeper for sure.

I agree with you, to me the Solar Impulse is much more special and good looking than the standard version.

Wear it in health.

I purchased the Solar Impulse X-33 late last year after seeing it in on display at the OB. It is very beautiful and I loved the colour scheme and strap combo. I owned it for about 24 hours and then the light stopped working.
Thinking it was just a dead battery (who knows how long it had sat on display) I took it back to the OB who also has an Omega service center attached to the store. They called me the next day telling me that in fact there is a problem with the watch and that they will need to replace the whole module (not a dead battery after all!). Needless to say I was very disappointed and a little annoyed. I spoke to the OB manager and told him as much.
He was very polite and offered me a number of choices. Wait for watch to be repaired, Full refund or allocation of the second Marstimer due into the OB in a week.
Needless to say I took him up on the Marstimer and am very happy with it.
I do miss the Solar Impulse, it was very beautiful but I guess it was never meant to be

Weird I think the Skywalker looks the best of the lot but I opted for the Marstimer because I wanted the extra functionality.

All are superb.

I finally got to try one of these on in person today and I liked it much more than I thought I would. It may be sneaking up near the top of my wishlist....

How do others feel about theirs? I don't mind digital / quartz, but usually they are cheap fun alongside my mechanical and vintage pieces.

I really like the x33, but wonder if it will feel a little silly to spend much on one, compared to a the functionality of other quartz / smart watches? Maybe I'm overthinking it and getting too caught up ok it having a battery - as I have no qualms spending time on mechanical watches that lack any such functionality...

I really like mine, even though I don’t wear it that often. Not a NATO fan, so I put a blue / fluorescent green stitching sailcloth band on it. Even when I wear it though, I usually try to leave the display off.

If you’re not opposed to pre-owned (how I got mine), there are often deals to be had. My original interest was in the Mars Timer. I really liked the colorway, but seeing that it wasn’t available at the time, this pre-owned one was at a reasonable price & that the blue/green colorway was pretty cool too, I didn’t really need to know what time it was on Mars.

Thanks for the reflections. Yeah, I'd probably be looking to get the solar impulse used. I'd probably grab a mars timer if prices were equal, but the solar impulse was really fun. And, I love a full lume bezel!
