Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch "not for sell" on lung ?

Hello, I bought a speedmaster moonwatch for $100, the Ukrainian seller said it was a fake because it doesn't have a serial number. The watch is really nicely made. I was surprised because instead of a number, there is an inscription "not for sell". The mechanism itself looks very nice, I checked the number on the bridge and found out that the watch was manufactured in 2008. All hands work, the watch has a deviation of +-5 seconds. Lume shines for a very long time. What do you think about it?

Christ only knows what that is, but it’s not an Omega.

So you bought it from a seller for $100 who told you it was fake, and now you're hoping it's real? And you somehow determined from the bridge that it was made in 2008, when the real Cal 9300 didn't even exist until around 2012?

Seriously?

I just haven't seen such a well-made fake yet. Most are quartz or on a fake Seiko nh35 movement. I thought it might be some kind of prototype or dummy watch. I found a serial number on the bridge and decided to check it.
I am a layman, I don't know as much as you do, that's why I wrote here.

A fake wrist watch may tick, but it’ll never keep the time of truth.

It might still be a fake Seiko movement. What you're seeing is not the movement.... it's a decorative cover on top of the actual movement underneath. Like a hub cap on top of a wheel.

I'll try to compare it with the original, and is there a chance that the caliber could have been faked 1:1? I've seen one glued on, it looks like this...

It doesn't matter, it's a fake. End of discussion.

You still haven’t. What looks like a 9300 movement is a plate stuck on top of a cheap movement. If you look at the very prominent jewels visible on the movement, none of them have any steel pivots in them. This is an obvious sign of a fake.

I was wondering what I was looking at. I’m the farthest thing from an expert but I was trying to figure out why the back looked so bizarre. Thank you OF, I’m learning by osmosis.

IT'S A FAKE. The dial is ALL wrong for a multitude of reasons and the "movement" is clearly a faux movement. IT'S A FAKE. The ENTIRE thing is COUNTERFEIT since it's using trade dress to fool people, which it clearly has. Be glad the seller was up front with you and you are only out a little money. If you want more information on why it's so wrong, look it up yourself as there is nothing else we can provide to you. END OF DISCUSSION.

In that case you basically threw $100 down the toilet.

Welcome to the forum. Do you have an interest in other watches? You don't have to spend big money to get a nice watch. We have a lot of love for Seiko, Bulova and other less expensive watches here. We are not a snobby group, but we do have a very negative view towards counterfeit watches. Here are a few reasons why:

My eyes... Please, spoiler tags next time!

Welcome to the forum though. Glad to hear that you knew it was a fake before we purchased it (as far as you not being out money).

What kind of real watch is your favorite or go to?

Use this to learn to recognize counterfeits. Now get yourself the real deal to compare.
