Hello,
I am new to the forum and need your advise regarding a purchase of the Omega Speedmaster moon watch.
A seller on EBay has one listed as NEW never worn and the asking price of $4,300.00.
This is the model with the original Omega red box and hesalite crystal.
All the reviews are 100% positive. I have not seen this model in new condition for this price at all.

Considering the Big Black Box replaced the old red box about four years ago this would mean that the watch has been sitting idle for at least that long. Therefore it’s probably best to factor in the cost of a service on top of the asking price.

Also, pictures would help 😉

Question - if a watch is left idle surely there is no wear so no need for a service? I rotate my best watches and figure that they need servicing less frequently than if I wore them every day. Am I being cheap?

I’m no expert, but I believe that that the original lubrication could either congeal or dry out so would need to be checked over - but you’re right, there shouldn’t be any wear on the components.

I am curious if anyone has experience with vorawatchplus2005 on ebay.
They have a brick and mortar store in California but their ebay listings are odd due to the multiple silly spelling errors.
i.e. Speed Master as two words or Omega Planet instead of Planet Ocean etc.Also the photos appear to be cut and paste from another source.

Many thanks for any assistance.

I wouldn't be confident in a seller who cannot write correctly the name of his watches...
Did you check here, on OF, in the For sale sections?...

Exactly....$4,300 doesn't sound like a bargain when you can use excellent sellers on OF and get a brand new, fresh 2020 version in the same price range.

This would turn me off straight away. Buy the seller. As noted above, some great sellers here on OF.
