Omega Speedmaster MK40 (Valjoux 7751) Chronograph Broken

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem to mine.
Currently when I push the start pusher on the chronograph, everything stops and the chrono doesnt work. Then when I press the pusher again (usually to pause) the watch works. Reset doesnt effect anything.
I tried leaving it for a while to see if the minutes hand change on the chrono, but nothing there.

Anyone had this before?

Perhaps consider a service

Yeah I am considering one, but was looking for other options first as this is a minimum $1300. Not including if they require new parts etc.

1300 for a Val7750 service is too much, just don't go to omega. It's a movement any watch maker can service

I was also afraid in the beginning to service my Omegas at local watchmaker but believe me sometimes the problem it's not so difficult and you can solve it with a few bucks.

Yeah I have rung all around brisbane (Australia) and everyone keeps saying Omega wont give them parts. But as you said I know these are in longines and other brands so unsure why they won't.
Also AU$1300, which is still a lot for me to spend just on one service, without other possible costs.

There is a much better alternative in Brisbane. PM me.

I have done several complete overhauls with Omega and am now trying an independent service company. Omega will replace a lot of parts, hence the cost is high, but you do end up essentially with a new watch in return. That may or may not be your thing.

I just took my Speedmaster 125 for a service, the chrono has not functioned for several years and I went in fearing that a service guy would need to source obscure parts. However he opened it up right there and then and explained with the help of a giant TV screen and a microscope that the movement was just gummed up. He got the chrono to function and accepted the overhaul. So it may not all be doom and gloom. So shop around.

It is a 7751, with some nicer finished bridges etc. All the wheel are from a 7751 so a normal, non Omega watchmaker should have these in stock or be able to simply order them. This is a basic movement for an experienced watchmaker so I do not see where the problem comes from. Longines also has watches based on the 7751 range, caliber L678 so a longines watchmaker should also be able to service your watch without any problem.
