    Hi all,

Just wanted to share with you a few quick and dirty shots of this amazing Omega Speedmaster Mark IV I came across recently. Apparently, the watch has not been worn much, was placed back in its box around the early 1980's where it remained for the last 30 years. Until recently...

    Still in original unpolished condition.

    Just like the bracelet.

What amazes me is how sharp the case back is. Look at those edges.

...and the red dot. If you know, you know :)

Thanks for reading and let us see your Mark 4s and 4.5s!!

Wow, looks very nice. I am not sure how the Mark IV never made it on the 60th Anniversary Speedmaster poster. I guess too much competition in the 70's for Speedmaster.

If you did, please take a photo from the end on - so we can see what a NOS watch should look like. Over time, these tonneau type cases get polished, and the metal thins pls see arrows above

This is my mark 4.5 - the metal here is still very thick - and i think this watch may not have been polished at all

Some i have seen that have obviously over polished have almost no metal left in this area

Great watch, but those red boxes were never made to last... surely not intended for a time capsule :D

Here is a really bad overpolished example of a Mark II - the metal is almost non existant DB93A447-705D-45BC-9E7B-23138CCC425C.jpeg

    Congratulations on your purchase.

    My observations:
I'm wondering, why the 2 luminous dots beside the 12 hour marker have different color than the marker itself:
    1.jpg

2 other points on the caseback:
What are the numbers stamped - a serial number perhaps ?
My caseback is different. The distances marked with red seem shorter. On the other hand the groove (hole) goes also a little bit farther into the flat part of the caseback.

The dots are indeed different but I think it has to do with the thickness of the lume they applied. Certain indexes around the 7-8 o'clock are also turning yellow while the others are rather cream.

The number is only 4 digits and starts with 33. If we assume that these are the first 2 digits of the serial ie. 33mill that would put the watch to 1971 so 2 years too early for the Mark 4 release date (unless the watch was built then shelved, which I doubt).

I cannot comment on the case back issue though I find it interesting indeed.
