Hello,

I have the possibility of buying a Speedmaster Mark II, 145.014, from 1969. The seller is a trusted watchmaker I have known for a couple of years. However, when I was inspecting the watch I noticed that the crystal was misaligned and, worse, could be moved with my fingers. He was also surprised and got to know more about the subject. He later told me that he saw it with a colleague who works at Omega and that he confirmed that the glass can really be rotated with your fingers, although when you squeeze it is difficult. Can anyone here confirm this situation?

Thank you very much in advance

Well I can confirm that the crystal isn’t seated right and will maybe either fall out or allow water ingress. Are you sure your trust in your trusted watchmaker is justified?

Have owned a Mark II since 1973 and the crystal has never budged or rotated. If it can be rotated it's not set correctly and will not be water or moisture resistant.

That doesn't sound like a trusted watchmaker to me, what nonsense. Would be enough for me to walk away.
