·Hi Guys,
I'm.new to this forum.
My father passed away and I was given his omega speed master.
It's a 1969 with case back code:
145022 -69 - ST
I've looked at other speed masters and have notice the hour hands are different, as in shorter and fatter.
It looks more like the Mark II.
My question is, is possible that the hands are service hands ?
As others have said, the hands are from a MkIi Speedmaster and the dial is a later one. Very likely, your father had it serviced by a local watchmaker in the late 70s and wanted the dial and hands replaced because they were damaged or the lume was not as strong as it had. The watchmaker sourced the parts he could, and used MKIi hands because they fit. It happened a lot back in the day.
Many of the commenters here focus on originality of watches, and really ding ones that have replaced parts. But since this was your father’s watch and he made those changes at some point in the past, I would just keep it as is and wear it. Don’t go down the rabbit hole of trying to make it “original” - it never will be. It’s in good shape for what it is. Have it serviced and enjoy.
