... did you (also) notice that this ad refers to the moon landing being 13 years ago? So it's an '82 advertisement in spite of most of these watches having been delivered in '80 or latest end of '81. Perhaps a clue as to how slowly they sold at the time?
Congrats buddy! Very happy for you.

As the catalogs in my initial post show, it remained in the catalogs until 1987/1988. They even offered it on a strap as a lower-cost option. Most, if not all, of these watches were shipped to distributors, where they likely sat in inventory waiting for dealer orders.

It's amazing how this second-generation 1980s gold Apollo 11 Speedmaster has more mysteries, variations and stories surrounding it than the famous 1969 release.

now its my turn to add some pictures of my new to me No. 094 of the very lovely BA345.0802. Thank you @watchstick_81 for this great thread, you forced me to purchase this example just a few weeks ago in Germany 馃槑

Your Mysteries are my Mysteries but No. 094 is pretty much in line:

1) The Dial: MK1 with "Swiss Made" underneath the minute track and a shorter S and R:

2) Production numbers... nothing to add here. Engravings are great in place 馃憤 In my eyes it is pretty interesting, that they added the zero to the number - they have not done this with the BA145.022 - indicates minimum a number below 1.000 equal three digits?

3) Leather strap? Not with my BA345:

I'm not sure I completely understand your thesis 馃槄. I think Omega already knew they were going to make 300 pieces (and maybe more if it turned out to be a huge success?!). With the BA145.022 they maybe wanted to make less than 1014 and the production was increased later? Same with the Moonshine 50th by the way.

Hi all I own a 345.0802 with its extract from the archives. I wonder if anyone can help me by suggesting how to search additional news about the facr that in addition to the original engravings on the back, it has two letters: M.A.
The doubts are many (an addition by the owner and so on) but what makes it reasonable to investigate is that most of these watches were delivered to Germany and mine to Switzerlan. Could it have been a present to someone working in Omega? Related to a VIP gift? Any help appreciated.
It comes with its original gold bracelet. Regards

Could be and almost impossible to answer for sure. Do you have a better photo of the caseback letters? They do look a lot like the original engraving. Since Omega did not produce these casebacks themselves, it must have been done by that manufacturer, which is not very likely. Another interesting caseback to say the least!

Great watch! And a nice picture too. It makes clear, to me, that this MA has been added later. Just compare the styles, the originally engraved font has double lines, if that makes sense. 馃槈 It's been done very nicely so I still like it, in spite of being different.

Yes but I'm still curious about the delivery to Switzerland + the M.A. but I guess I'll have to keep my curiosity! By the way, anyone have an extra original box? 馃槈

Just as @Aludic already pointed out, this is not the same as the original engraving and was added later (albeit very neatly). I also own a Longines with an engraving, and it's a source of endless curiosity as to who the original owner might have been.

No spare box available, sorry! Although it was more a generic box outside of Germany I believe?

To me this probably are engravings done after buying the watch. Initials of the first owner, likely not affiliated with Omega. Nicely done though.
