·All hyperbole aside, this is, without a doubt, one of the coolest watches I’ve ever had my hands on. Needs no introduction around these parts. The first ever solid gold Omega Speedmaster, AKA the “Tribute to Astronauts” ref BA145.022-69. Just 1014 made starting in November of 1969. The first two were gifted to the President and Vice President (they had to politely refuse the gifts based on value!) Then 31 were gifted to prominent astronauts. And the rest were made available to the public. These rarely show up, and when they do they have, sadly, not stood the test of time. This is the exception, I feel very confident saying it’s the nicest example to come to market in a long time - razor-sharp, unpolished, all original with incredible patina forming on the gold. Truly a collector grail watch and a real piece of history!
DIAL: 18K gold dial (yes, even the dial is gold) with onyx hour markers in gorgeous condition. Crisp printing, clean throughout, doesn’t get better, down to the original Omega signed crystal.
BEZEL: Correct DON (dot over 90) maroon bezel. Just light wear mostly seen on the edge, expected given the age, but looks fantastic.
CASE: 42MM solid 18k yellow gold case in crazy sharp unpolished condition. I’ll let the photos do most of the talking, but it’s developed amazing patina throughout and you could cut yourself on these lugs! Light wear given the age but again, they don’t come better than this. Caseback is equally beautiful with full clean printing including the limited edition number.
MOVEMENT: Another first, this was the first time Omega used the Lemania-based hand wound caliber 861. Running very well - chronograph snaps back to 12 and hand winding is like butter.
BRACELET: On its original solid 18K yellow gold bracelet, also untouched with beautiful patina throughout - look at how sharp that Omega symbol is on the clasp! Bracelet is also large, just shy of 8 inches, which is fantastic because these links are not easily found!
ACCESSORIES: Watch only.
PRICE: $47,000 which will include overnight fully insured shipping through FedEx anywhere in the US. Face-to-face deal in the Los Angeles area is always possible, with a discount offered.
Payment via Bank Wire.
All sales are final. I go out of my way to describe as accurately as possible, and always happy to answer any question. I’m a passionate watch collector first and foremost and I treat buyers the way I want to be treated when I’m the buyer. Years of stellar feedback to show that.
Thanks for checking out this beauty! - Richard
