    Hi all,

    311.30.42.30.99.001 steel on steel.

I've been offered the chance to buy the above watch. It will be my second Omega but first Speedmaster. The watch has been sourced for me by an independent watch company who have now found one and are asking what I would be willing to pay. Now this is a difficult question. Can anyone put a price on these? The watch comes with original box and receipts and is in mint condition.

Please don't reply by saying "it's worth what you want to pay" as I don't want to get into those sorts of discussions. I just want to know what would be a reasonable price on the market.

Appreciate this is an odd post but would appreciate your thoughts on what the watch may be worth.

    Kind regards,
    Rob

I'd say at MSRP it was a great price, and especially now, given the fact that the dial itself is worth more than the rest of the watch.
Also - limited to 1975 pieces...

if this watch were released today it would be priced above 10k.

I'm not sure how the Greyside Meteorite will affect this, but I would imagine it will increase the value, as the more people are turned on to meteorite, the more they may start to look for this one...

I searched hard for this one, and jumped at the chance. I can't recall what MSRP was, but I would suggest you ask, or find the MSRP, and can throw an offer that comes comfortably below, leaving him room to negotiate, but not so low that he hangs up on you.

I haven't seen any up for sale lately. I'd put it solidly in the 7k -8k range.
    But I'm no watch trader/dealer/appraiser.

Blowers recently sold one with asking price of £4,950 - I'd suggest that was a VERY keen price.

I've seen one on the bay recently for above £6000. Can't find the listing now.

They have been going low 7s US. Heres another question: what would you value it watch only? I got offered one recently and had no idea. Was thinking around US5k

When a batch of NOS Speedyorites were repatriated from AD vaults back to the Omega Boutique retail network last year, the out the door price after taxes was about $10k USD. Used Speedyorites without box/papers typically go for around $6000-$6500 USD, if you can get one for less, you did very well. With box/papers, you see prices listed above, they range from $7000 and up.

Considering in 2013 one sold for £4495.00 i would assume it would be a lot more now.

And don't ever wreck the dial... the dial will cost you more than a complete set with box and papers did a year ago..

Well I prefer my watches on my meteorites.
    And my meteorites, bigger.

Its a special I built some time ago before prices got crazy. Over polished case and a movement that still needs a service. In fact the bezel was the most expensive part!

This one (full set) sold at Bonhams not long ago for less than $6500, including premium

    http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/23508/lot/273/

When I've seen them for sale recently (= this year) they're struggling to sell above around $6600-6700, so I'd keep that in mind.

As it's a Limited Edition, it's probably best to make sure you buy the full set including warranty cards and LE certificate. While it's unlikely that you'd be up against a put-together one (like, say, a 3570.50 made to look like an Apollo XI 35th with a spare dial, handset and non-numbered caseback) it'd still affect the value quite negatively were you to re-sell it.

And just FYI, unlike some other models, you can't purchase a dial for one of these without sending the old one back, so a put together on this one is unlikely. Given the cost of the dial and current selling prices, I think making up one would be a money losing proposition...

Right - why I said it's unlikely you'd be up against a put-together :D Might have been a bit too understated there!

Did not know they even made spares though, much less the requirement to return the old one. Are you aware of anyone that has had to do so? That's definitely a story I want to hear...

I was just reinforcing your point and explaining why it was unlikely for those who were not aware.

I don't know of anyone who has to replace one, and I've not had to send one in, but shit happens...sometimes expensive shit...

But looking up the dial on the Extranet, it clearly states it's exchange only.

    Cheers, Al

The dials on these are amazing, especially in the Sun.
