·For sale is an Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 45th Anniversary Limited Edition (Reference 311.62.42.30.06.001) in titanium. Limited edition of only 1969 pieces.
The watch comes as a full set - with massive presentation box, limited edition certificate/booklet, warranty card, pictogram card, instruction manual, and hang tag.
What makes this one potentially extra special is the limited edition booklet appears to have been hand signed by both General Tom Stafford and Gene Cernan, both Apollo Mission astronauts! It is also accompanied by a hand written letter from the Omega boutique mentioning that the booklet was specially signed by these astronauts. I don't know the reason for this, how or why it was done, or otherwise have proof, but the signatures appear correct and completely authentic to me.
The case of the watch is crafted from lightweight grade 2 titanium. The watch also features a laser-engraved black PVD dial (produced using a special laser). The indexes and hour, minute, seconds and sub-dial hands are crafted from 18K red gold and the central chronograph hand is red gold-plated. The dial is stunning and is always changing colors depending on the lighting.
The watch comes on a factory brown coated nylon fabric “NATO” strap in overall excellent condition.
The watch itself is in overall excellent condition, but shows some very minor wear on the case and there are various strap changing marks on the back of the lugs. The red omega dot seal is still intact.
This beautiful and unique limited edition reference rarely comes up for sale. And this one has something a little extra special.
