Well obviously that is my main reason for getting it. I'm at the inlaws trying to behave. P.s. constellations are for chicks.
Thought that was Cartier :\

I just found out the Alaska project had nothing to do with Eskimos or polar bears.... Imagine my chagrin. Dennis sent me a private message offering to trade several constellations and his banana splits lunchbox for my new one. He told me to keep it our secret. Oops.

Wait one minute - the lunchbox was never part of the deal. And I only offered to trade if you could include Stana Katic (the actress shown in the picture on page 2 of theis thread) wearing said Speedy.

In a rare early photo, Bingo is caught out of character.

Okay Snoopy, knock it off. I have never played a Hanna Barbera character of any kind. I wanted to be Snuffleufpagus but the interview with Big Bird didn't go so well.

Of course this purported Alaska thing doesn't exist until we see pictures. In this case we may require dated newspapers in the photo, I'm just sayin.

I'm still at my in laws at the bottom of a valley surrounded by people in too short black pants and riding bikes with no air in the tires. The wal Mart here literally has a hitching post.. Ever seen one of those? I should have the watch Wednesday.

The hitching post never happened...or the Eskimo Project? I'm afraid the watch won't be here until Wed. afternoon. I'm expecting my created panda Apollo 11 Anniv. on a 1969 cal 861 to arrive about the same time. I'll get a few photos of both. I'll try to get something dramatic...like the watch under a waterfall...or on a beach at sunset. I know you guys like those glamor (glamour for the Brits) shots.

Here it is, but this isn't my photo. But now I've decided that since one of the guys who made the movement wasn't born in Switzerland...I don't want it anymore.

Ok...watch got here a day early...here are two photos, and I even put the '64 pre pro I've been wearing in the photo with it since I didn't have today's newspaper. I'm not a bracelet guy, but I may actually try wearing this one for awhile.

I would have chosen a different shade on the hour markers for better contrast - it seems the markers blend too much against the white dial. Dunno, maybe my vision has aged and perhaps the contrast shows better in real life. 😀

No, your eyes see it correctly. The hour markers almost disappear into the dial. I don't know if they just couldn't find a better shade or if Omega wanted it this way, but it is what it is. I like it, still. The markers are a slightly different color, but they do not stand out. Maybe on the dark side of the moon there would have been some advantage. I will say this...after wearing vintage Speedmasters with dead lum, these markers glow even in slightly low light. In the dark they must really shine. At least I'm ready now if I have call to go into deep space.

Looks good, the contrast with the black bezel gives it a really sharp high contrast look

I like it too. Nice grab Patrick.

Oh, Steve the watchmaker is N2FHL (forgot to mention that in one of your other threads).

Thanks for the positive reinforcement. I worn it with the steel bracelet for about 2 hours then had to swap it for a rally strap like the one on my other watch in the photo. The steel is just too cold and heavy for my tender self. I like the warmth of leather, and I like the contrast with the dial. The white straps that come with it might be interesting to wear once, but I don't want to get them dirty, since they can't be "sourced." Something interesting about the hands...I hadn't given it much thought, but the sub hour and sub min hands that have the odd shape actually have lum, unlike other Speedmaster small hands.
