My mother in law gave us this Omega Speedmaster watch before she died along with other items. Not sure if it was my father in law’s and grandfather’s watch. Any input would be much appreciated.

Most likely it’s a 145.022-69
Production from late 1969-1972ish. Serial number will give more info and reference can be confirmed by the inside of the caseback.

…and to add, it looks pretty nice and original to my eye, other than the bracelet.

Agree a later 145.022-69 so 70/71ish. Will clean up really nicely. Worth a few grand

Assuming all original, the DON bezel suggests 1970 most likely.

Apologies, I don’t know what I was looking at but I thought it had a DNN bezel. The DON bezel suggests it’s an early -69 so @Dan S is right - likely 1970

Guys, Wow! Many thanks for your speedy responses. Recommends on should I send it to Omega to recondition or look at a US Omega watch shop? I’m in SC but have family up north and near Florida.

Really nice -69 and should clean up nicely! Don’t send it to Omega for anything. Find a good watchmaker who specializes in vintage speedmasters.

Second on the response above, no, don’t send it to Omega. Use the search function here and look for recommended watch makers in Florida, I know there has been a thread or two on it.

It is in good original condition with vintage parts that collectors value. Omega service will mostly likely remove these parts. They will make it look like a new watch, but it looses vintage charm and value. Keep it like it is, just get the movement serviced.
