    Hi ,
I have an Omega model 3594.50.00 and have noticed the Broad Arrow hands are showing corrosion or the like. Has any of the other members had the same thing happen with theirs and is it problematic to this particular model of Omega Speedmaster 57 reissue? After searching the internet I have found other examples of the same thing happening. Is there any reason why this should happen?
Any info would be very much appreciated. I have put up a couple of pictures to show how my one has reacted.
    Cheers Russell. received_404559316656006.jpeg

I have seen this on several too. Those pieces are 20 years old now and I guess the hands just weren’t well made enough. The good news is that with them being luminova they don’t noticably fade (unless there has been water ingress) and a new set should match the dial exactly. An authorised service centre can help you out.

Thanks Padders for the help. Yes I thought the same thing about getting a new set of hands to match the dial. The dial is perfect so replacement set should be fine. I wonder why it is a recurring thing with the 57 reissue is it the quality of the hands?
    Cheers Russell.

Yes I think it was an issue on those, I have seen it mentioned before.

I also recently acquired a 3594.50 and it does indeed show some signs of corrosion. Doesn't look as bad in real life, although once started, I guess there is no stopping the process.

To me, anyway, this is just sad. And I’d been considering picking one of these up.

Anyone happen to know the estimated price for hands replacement? It doesn't really bother me (yet), but I'd like to start saving for a rainy day.

They will all be replaced as part of your service if you take it to Omega.

I'm calling it now and betting that replacement hands' lume will glow brighter when charged.

As I mentioned earlier, I doubt it will be particularly noticeable, SL doesn’t degrade much. The dial lume plots on the Speedy are relatively small anyhow so matching is less important than with a generously lumed diver.

In my experience, an authorised place like STS would change hands like that for less than £100 all in. Of course as mentioned above, a better approach may be to wait for the next service and get it sorted then.

ps I don’t think the ones on the second watch shown look all that bad IMO.

I had a 2002 Speedmaster Pro that was serviced by Omega SC in Seattle. They replaced the hands for no reason as part of the service. The hands are definitely noticeably brighter when charged than the original dial. My guess is that they modified the SL formulation somewhere around 2008ish.
