What I love about this thread and watch in particular, is the total contradiction of opinion witnessed in 'the community' about evaluating a watches condition/value according to Williams chart. Time and again I see 'very good to excellent' watches being criticised about their price (oooh the price chart is inflated etc etc), and here we have imho the opposite.

The asking price puts it near 'excellent' on the Speedmaster101 evaluation chart, and there are folks saying 'this watch is cheap'. Personally I would not evaluate this watches condition near 'excellent', but rather between 'good' and 'very good'...being closer to 'good'.

Its a great looking watch in a good condition, and I would happily wear it...but not at that price (as someone mentioned : lume is very expensive).

Naturally all IMH2cO.

You have to also account for excellent does not exist in 2998-1s this Is pretty much it compared to the rest we see.
It’s cheap compared to the $100K + this would have got less than 2 years ago. 😉

That is what I was getting confused about (2915-1) I should be ashamed of myself 😁

All very good points, but the price chart does not put a value on “brown”, so how brown is it really and how much is that colour worth?
Here lies the difficulty for me, it looks quite different now from Kaplans photos.
You’d 100% need to see it with your own eyes.

10 years ago this would look super expensive .... so not really a valid point.
Speedy prices are a bit soft due to the economy. This price will go up if watch prices overall go back up.

This is a solid example at what I feel a fair price.

You'd be surprised...

Curious about your thoughts on asking price for this specific example. Think it's going to sit on the 'Dink for weeks or will someone cough up before Monday?

So the lollipop has been touched up?
Being a 1960 watch that lollipop (along with the hr markers) would be Radium right?

if original, yes definitely. But you would need to separate the Lollipop from the rest of watch (dial and hour minute hands) to test it accurately.
Here is my 2998-1 under Geiger counter after a couple of minutes exposure:
