    Hey everyone,

So my great grandfather has passed down this Omega Speedmaster 2915-1 (which I originally thought was a 2915-2 at the beginning of this post) down to me and I just wanted to post on this forum to get a little bit of advice.

First, I want to know if everything on the watch looks authentic, especially the bezel. I've done a good amount of research and from what I can tell everything is original from the "base 1000" bezel to the broad arrow hand, but I want some extra insight.

Second, for insurance purposes, what would be a good price point for this watch? It's a cherished heirloom and I want to make sure I'm handling it properly.

    Thanks!

Congrats on receiving what may be the most iconic watch Omega has ever produced. I'm probably not the best at giving vintage advice (or advice in general according to my girlfriend); I'm just here to see everyone else's reactions.::popcorn::::popcorn::::popcorn::

EDIT: Something helpful at least. http://speedmaster101.com/price-chart-2/
If everything is original, probably valued between good and collector grading. Your crown looks different but regardless, the watch itself is worth big money. Don't let omega service it.

    Killer watch! Wow!

From what I can tell from your one picture, here are the parts not original to the watch:

    Chrono hand.
    (At least) one pusher.
    Crown.
    Bracelet

    Killer watch.

Change the title to 2915-2 (the correct reference number) and you will get a ton more responses .

Take good care of that watch. It's worth a crap load of money, assuming it all checks out.

Along with the price chart, check out the 2915 page for some more detail .

if that broadarrow with matching minute hand are original to the watch, be prepared for a big surprise. let the game begin.

Unbelievable heirloom. You will undoubtedly get a lot of advice about what to do with it...my only advice is to TAKE YOUR TIME. That's one of the most coveted vintage watches in the entire world, and Speedmaster freaks like me can only dream of ever owning one. Treat it with care and rely on the more tenured people around this board to guide you if you get hung up on anything.

    CONGRATS!

whoa! you don't see that everyday, what a treasure. Let me echo the sentiment to keep this "on the down low' with the family, all they need to know is that its an old beat up watch :D The case looks to be in fantastic shape, those lugs look pretty sharp, that ghosted base 1000 bezel is sublime. Agree with prior comments on replacement parts. Be extremely careful working with watchmakers; if you make the decision to have work done on this watch, you need someone with an expertise in vintage, and with a proven track record... a misguided watchmaker could literally ruin this timepiece. Use the resources on this forum, they helped me immensely (and still do today) and helped me from making a big mistake with my grandfather's 1967 Speedy, which is my treasure today.

From this (not so perfect) photo I can´t tell the colour of the bezel - as the script and the numbers look white I assume it is a black bezel...

And this would not be correct for a 2915-2 which should have a steel bezel

To the OP: So please let us know the colour of the bezel

PS: I have worked on the image with photoshop and it seems to be a steel bezel which has lost all of the black colour...

imo, i can see clearly it is steel bezel. looks deceiving from the picture. good point raised though. more clearer pictures should be shared for further close examination by OF experts esp the inner view.
