Omega Speedmaster 20th Anniversary Limited Edition from 1989.

This is an all original watch, it comes on the rare "holy grail" 1450 bracelet with 808 endlinks. It is engraved "APOLLO XI 1969". Includes the original wooden box that is specific to this limited edition, the white "significant moments" outer box, "first lunar landing of mankind" patch and the Velcro strap.

This watch has an interesting history in that it has lived most of its life in Australia and has seen a lot of sun. The insert has faded from black to grey. The dial has slightly faded to a chocolate brown. Both remain in perfect condition. The tritium lume plots have turned yellow. For the sake of comparison, I have included a picture of this watch next to a modern Speedmaster to show the fading.

Price reduced to £4995 GBP. I will send the package fully insured within Europe. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

I've had a few messages asking which version this is. This is one of the worldwide limited editions of 4000 watches. The case is engraved "APOLLO XI 1969" on the left side.

DJ, a question. I've read on the internet that this version is, as you described, one of 4000 but I've also heard from someone at the museum when I visited about 6 or 7 years ago that it was one of 2000.
Is there any definite documentation that you've found or does it require another trip to the museum ?

IIRC:

US market was XXXX/2000 and the number is stamped on side of case. Rest of world were out of 4000 and, while it says "Apollo XI 1969," the number is not engraved on case.

Ben, thanks for the reply and that's what I also found on the internet but I don't have my "journey through time" available to check and this thread just reminded me of what the guy at the museum told me. Do you have anything documented to show this ?

Moonwatch only or this post :

This engraving was either Apollo XI 1969 (worldwide 4000 pieces only but unnumbered), xxxx/2000 Apollo XI 1969 (USA 2000 pieces) or xxx /250 Apollo XI 1969 – 1989 (Germany 250 pieces).

Thanks kov, that's great info.

👍

Apollo XI 1969 (worldwide 4000 pieces only but unnumbered)

Note that however the watches were not numbered, all of those 4000 watches were delivered with a certificate booklet where the LE number was mentioned 😉

Considering the bracelet is a good grand now, the watch is quite hard to come by with the box, patch and strap. That bezel looks nice too!

A pretty good deal I think.

The faded insert is really nice, no imperfections, the font is fatter than on the modern one too.
