Hi All,

I'm interested in buying my very first Omega Moonwatch, opting for a vintage reference.

I have came across a 145.022 from 1980 in good conditions but I noticed a strange dot over the 75 on the bezel.

Here below pics of the dial and the bracelet:

Need advice from experts on this watch before proceeding with the purchase

Any help or advide would be much appreciated 😀

Thanks in advance to everyone!

Paint drop?

Bracelet looks new, probably modern service?

To give some real advice, we would need a price, and maybe more pics of the case to assess its state (good, polished, or overpolished).

Thanks. I've no further pics so far (still in contact with seller) but price is interesting (around 4.500€)

I'd say price is OK if you are in Europe, it depends on the details: serviced? does it have a sharp case? Box & Papers? Pleasing patina on the indexes and the bezel? The latter looks grayish, you have to like it (I do, other don't). As always, details, and condition. It can substantially add, or substract, a good chunk to the price/appeal of this reference.

Also a gut feeling:

I may be wrong but I think it is a modern 1171 bracelet. Maybe from the 80s and in good shape. Maybe a new one added to a watch originally on leather. Maybe a replacement for a worn out bracelet, thus indicating heavy use and probably a case a bit worn too, so keep an eye on the case. Avoid if heavily polished imho.

Pictures from the sides, lugs and back should help you.

I think the bezel is a "dot close to 70 - narrow C" bezel which is correct for a Speedmaster 145.0022. The strange dot over the 75 is just a small dent / sign of wearing.
Dial seems also correct, I think the bracelet is a new one. (sticker on the clasp?)

These early 80s speedies came on 1171/1 (32 in circle) and 633 end links.

Here is mine, with EOA

Thanks everyone. I love the grayish/blueish patina on the bezel, the bracelet seems to be a replacement one (with 1171/1 and 633 end links), probably polished to look like new.

Good chance that the hands are replacements on the OP watch IMO. If you care, you can ask for a UV shot.

Yes, bracelet is new, but you can find a vintage one for a reasonable price, if you want

If you like it, buy it. Looks good so far. A recent service receipt might be good.....

i think too that they can be luminova ones.
Try to have more pictures of the case, dial and hands, mouvement before buying it. And more info about the service history (or plan to add the price of a servicein your budget).
If you can’t have this, take your time and find another speedmaster.

Thank you all for your valuable adds so far 😀

I will ask more pics before buying it and check for your feedbacks here. For sure it comes serviced, the bracelet (even if polished) is not a problem for me. I'm now suspicious on hands and bit disappointed on paint drop over 75...

After spoken with the seller, he proposed me another 145.022 from 80s (same price). Pics below:

The bracelet here looks ok for the time. What's your opinion on the dial? It has long S-R as well. No other pics so far 🙁

Thanks

You should ask yourself the question, does this Speedmaster make me happy? Am I going to wear it daily? This is not the only 145.0022 for sale. If you give yourself some time, there will come several Speedmasters to compare.

Whilst @hronists has rightly pointed out the lower pusher is misaligned, it is probably a rather easy fix. Add to that a much more valuable bracelet (trapezoid logo 1171 rather than a service 1171/1) and a rather pleasing lume colour, I would be be more tempted to take this second specimen for sure...

Apart from the usefulness of having more pictures, it should at a minimum clear up the question whether the bezel is dirty around the 'Tachymetre' or actually slightly damaged.

Please do share more!

Thanks all, given the raising doubts on both models, I opted for a more recent Moonwatch from 1992 with 1479 bracelet.

Here below some pics:

The seller says its reference is 3570.50 but from serial number on movement (cal. 861) and case (4828xxx) it seems to be a late 1992/early 1993 production so the reference should be 3590.50 instead. Am I right? What do you think about this one? Has no long S-R and tritium is not so "vintagized" but conditions look great to me.

Thanks again for your support! 😁
