With two 'new' vintage Speedmasters coming in, it is time to thin the herd, so a few watches will have to be going up for sale. This one is the last of the bunch and arguably the most reluctant sale of the three. I am sure you'll understand why after looking at the pictures and description below. It's one of the pieces I've acquired in search of my own birth year Speedmaster, which I held onto for about a year as I didn't feel like parting with it.

For sale a lovely Speedmaster 145.022 C.R.S. in very good vintage condition. Quoting other forum members; if any watch is a good entry point into vintage Speedmasters, this is it. If you're looking for perfection, this watch might have seen a little too much action, even though the case is still extremely sharp and the bezel free from major damage. Then again, if you look for a wonderfully wearable vintage Speedy; please do read on!

Please find an assessment of the watch below. I have attempted to be as brutally honest as can be. Also note that I am certainly not the first owner of this watch as this watch is nearly the same age as I am. Hence I cannot guarantee originality of parts, although after having handled dozens of 80s Speedmasters, this one comes across as being very honest to my eyes and resembles other Speedmasters in the same serial range (45582xxx) closely.

Dial: The original dial with all lume plots perfectly in tact. The lume has aged to a very attractive, eggshell shade and has lost most of its luminous qualities as one would expect of a forty year old piece. Dial body colour is perfectly homogeneously anthracite. The printing is perfectly intact.

Hands: I believe these to be the original, tritium, hands. Quite a bit darker than the dial, as is common for the early 80s Speedies. Lume shot below.

Case: Nice fat case with very sharp edges. I'd even wager to say it is likely not polished and if it has been done, it's been done extremely well. Of all the 80s CRS cases I have handled, this one probably ranks as the best one. Hence my reluctance selling this piece. Some hairline scratches but overall in very good condition. Caseback is in perfect order. Only minor detractor is a little patch of rough surface on the back of the upper left lug, it's visible in the pictures. Seems not to be invasive, just surface, but worth mentioning nonetheless.

Bezel: Original B2 bezel (‘narrow C’) in very good condition.

Movement and Serial: A trusty 861 manual wound movement with a serial in the 45582xxx range. Even though there is no extract, this serial range sits so firmly in 1981 that I am 99% sure it has been delivered in around the summer (northern hemisphere 😁) of said year. No guarantee, unfortunately.

Runs and winds smoothly with all functions working properly. Screw heads look like new. The service history of this watch is unknown. I have only worn it sporadically, but have not observed any major deviation.

Bracelet: As is common with early 80s Speedies, an 1171 (not 1171/1) with 633 end links can be made part of the package. It's an early version with screwed links and stamped numbers. One of the pictures below shows the maximum stretch. There are two spare links available, which are part of the bracelet offered.

As I am not too keen on letting the bracelet go, it is only available to the buyer of the watch, but a head-only sale is certainly possible too.

Shipped worldwide at buyers expense, although I would strongly prefer a F2F deal in the Netherlands given the value of this piece and the added benefit of meeting a fellow OF-member in person.

No returns, please ask questions and extra pictures in advance. I am not making a habit out of selling, but I do have quite some - exclusively positive - references as a seller and buyer on this forum and could share more.

References and Linkedin profile available upon request.

Price: EUR 4750 (OBRO, including 1171 and 633 ELs) or 4250 head only.
