Yepp…Auctions with only 145.022-69´s!

And instead of making one post per watch, why not make a Speedy Auction Bonanza Christmas Edition??

There where 5 Speedys that I followed (well actually 6, but that one will get its own separate post in the future….nudge nudge, wink wink!!)!

And trying to keep everything easy - I have the sale prices including the premium.

OK then...…all of them are 145.022-69´s, with stepped dials, short indices, 861 movements and the painted Omega logo.
A couple with SW Flight Qualified casebacks, some have DON´s and some have DNN´s.
These were up on multiple auction sites/platforms, so you might have seen and followed some of them?

Nr 1:
Serial nr 31611235 SWFQ, service bezel and service hands, and also a missing pusher.
Condition:
Nice black dial, but the lume had some loss on the indices, and the white paint under the lume had a strange spreading at the step... - Fair
The case and caseback have marks and scratches, the lines and edges were gone/polished - Fair minus
The movement has had a service before (a looong time ago…) but looked ok - Good minus
And the missing pusher, the incorrect bezel (should be a DNN) and the servicehands…these would cost som cash to get the watch correct (if wanted).
Also the condition of the case and case back let the watch down.

It had a 1171/633 bracelet.

Value?
With the bracelet roughly 2500 € / 2900$?

There were two bidders that went ”head to head”, an it finally landed at 3300€ / 3800$

Nr 2:
Serial nr 29607769, with a tropical/brown dial (the auction house own description...).
So…a brown 69, within the correct serial range....Oppaaa!
With an extract...!

But at first closer glance - it looked a bit weird,
the dial had a very nice brown tone, but zooming in, there were darker spots/blemishes that could be oil or something else,
and the indices looked very suspicious.
They had a strange texture, and looked to even.
And the hands…what a mess….
The bezel was very beaten up, and faded/bleached - not attractive - Fair minus
The movement had lots of small scratches on most of the parts, serviced 10 years ago - Fair
The case and case back looked promising, but I did not ask for more pictures since the watch had a ridiculous estimate starting at 12300 € / 14300$!!
So no serious assessment on this one, but it was a weird, and absolutely not a fine watch!

This one did not find a new home (only one bid at 8700 €/9800$)!

Nr 3:
Serial nr 31625996 SWFQ,
and recently serviced with servicepushers, a new crown and crystal (not a biggy with these parts!)

Condition:
Nice dial and lume, this one looked very clean and attractive - Very Good
The bezel looked nice and clean, one major ding on the 115, other than that, no damage or major dings/scratches - Good

The case had marks and scratches, but the lines/edges were there and also some brushing - Good minus
Sadly the case back had lots of scratches, and some of them quite deep, and there were also failed opening marks,
some black ink in the text, but not much.
I think that this reference should have a better/nicer caseback, since this is the thing that makes the watch so special, so a bit disappointed - Fair minus.
The minute hand had some lumeloss, and there were marks on the white paint.
Movement had at least one service done, but looks ok - Good plus

I actually liked this watch, even with the sad case back, and I made a MasterPlan on this one!

Value?
I downgraded the watch a bit with the serviceparts - so around 3700 $/ 4300 $

It had lots of pre-bids, the winner during auction day was in the room (not me), and the hammer fell at 4150€ / 4850$

Nr 4:

Serial nr 30599495.
And also recently serviced, with an incorrect bezel (should have DON), service crystal, and possible service pushers and crown.
The first pictures showed a promising Speedy, but then the ones showing the case from the sides were not so fun….

Condition:
Nice dark and clean dial, but the indices were hard to assess on the pictures, there could be some slight lumeloss?
The case had lots of marks and scratches, the lines/edges were very soft, and this made me not going further with the watch - Fair minus
On the positive side - the caseback looked nice!

The chrono hand looked ok, but the hour and minute hand had much darker lume,
generally, the hands had some minor scratches and some paint loss.
The movement looked clean and fresh since it was recently serviced - Good

With a box, and a 1171/633 bracelet.

Value?
With the bracelet (and box) 3600 € /4200$?

This one landed at 6700€ /7800$!!

I didn't see that coming - what a crazy price!

I wonder if the buyer missed the incorrect bezel, the condition of the case and got a bit ”blinded” with the Omega box…?

Nr 5:

This one had very unattractive lumeplots, and messed up hands…
And combined with a high estimate, I skipped on this one, and did not ask for more pictures.
It had a bracelet.

And it landed at 5450 € / 6300$

nice work Hans! I’m not fully convinced whether the goudwissel auctions are legit. They claim no reserve but a couple of watches that had my interest popped up repeatedly

Thanks, I do know that the auction house loves using the "No Reserve" to lure in people....
And the Speedys that I follow with them do get sold with this, but I have not followed other watches?

Could the watches that you followed got sold again by different buyers/sellers?
I have seen this on other auction houses...

Overall results seem to suggest that prices are holding up quite well, especially since most of these watches had problems of one sort or another.

Yepp!
And the Speedys that I followed (and won some...😬) that are in a very nice condition do get top price!
And I have also noticed that watches in the UK often get good prices!

No reserve?
WT Fluff!!!

No bids on the October auction,
And one HEFTY killer bid on the Mars auction!

Something very very strange here.....
